Both the A1 and the S4 models have the same sensor disc and same way of capturing strokes and distance rowed etc. though the A1 models available on the WaterRower website all come with the A1 monitor. You can either buy an A1 and then buy an S4 monitor separately and upgrade yourself or find a retailer that sells the A1 with the s4 monitor.

From what I can tell there are two vendors that sell this A1 with the S4 monitor, I bought from the first one.
