I got this one for my 2019 RAV4 XLE. My boyfriend and I sleep on it when we car camp. It does the job and we hook up the air pump to the outlet in the back of the car. Simple. Cannot comment on whether it's the best out there but it is part of our camping gear.

Everyone seemed to like my 2nd cup holder solution, so……., here is what I use when I go to Joshua tree or easy overnight camping. It fits perfectly and is surprisingly comfortable. I’m 5’11 and my partner is 5’8. We both fit laying on our backs and legs fully extended.

Sorry, didn’t take pics inside. I put the kids in the tent part because they are pretty wiggly sleepers. I sleep in the back of the car on this. I imagine a similar arrangement with your pooches would work. I only wish there were screens on the car windows so I could keep them open and not get devoured by mosquitoes. I use a small battery operated fan to get some air circulation on warmer nights. I’ll work on those window screens and let you know once I file the patent.

It works wonderful in my 2015 Crosstrek. My wife and I bought some bins from Walmart that we use as storage and to prop up the part where your head lays. While I have used the Luno mattress, I feel like this mattress is awesome. I done feel the need to get the Luno for $300 when I have this and it works great and is 1/4 the price.

Accessories, I would get the NEMA 14-50 adaptor for charging at camp sites or certain hotels/parking garages.

This is the mattress I bought and it fits the car really well. Also since there was so much space in the car we brought along a 3-shelf plastic cabinet thing to keep all our supplies and clothes. There's a ton of storage space everywhere in the car, so load it up!

I had thought about cutting up a memory foam mattress, but this folds down to such a small size. The memory foam mattress would take up so much space.

This can fit in the wheel hub storage in the trunk area.

The one thing I figured out was that with the front seats are moved up and chairs backs leaning to the dash are you will need to fill the void created/footwells.

1- put the headrests on backwards to provide flush support on the folded down rear seats.

2- storage bins fit nicely in the footwells to fill in the void.

With the awning attached and the hatch open you will have a lot more leg room, especially with your head toward the tailgate.

Headlamp. Something to cover the gap between the front and back seats if you’re sleeping in the rear. Turning the rear headrests backwards helps. Packing the gap full of blankets, pillows, your bag of clothes, etc. makes for a more comfortable sleep. This is also great of you have time to get it before you go. Shouldn’t be many bugs, but just in case this had been a blessing in my car camping. If you keep up with the camping, this tent has made my life easier.
