Oh yes, people from the Mediterranean are not the only people who can sometimes have darker features!
That said, the assumption of Scotland as being only Celtic and/or Germanic is also itself a bit oversimplified.

As per my message below, the timescales dealt with in the above book are too far in the past to show up on standard DNA tests' "ethnicity estimates," but more sophisticated DNA approaches (e.g. Y and Mitochondrial haplogroups, triangulating shared centimorgans with other testtakers, etc.) can be revelatory.
