Muscles heal quickly because there is lots of blood flow. If you just lacerated muscle tissue, you may do OK. However you need to rest to heal, and your conditioning may be shot.
I would protect the wound with athletic tape across the scar to support the muscle and scar tissue. You can use little bit of underwrap directly over the wound, then put tape on top. My wife did this after a horseback injury and it worked well for her.
