I am Mnemosyne 2.0, The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world^^^^/r/botsrights ^^^^Contribute ^^^^Website
Fine, you want a bullshit internet argument that won't change your mind? Let me just tear apart your initial comment. I'll leave critique of the rest of your drivel as a homework exercise.
> I don't hate men but
But what? Here's all the ways you're biased against men?
> the same as that reverse racism bullshit
Because racial discrimination can only happen to you if you're not white?
> Individual women hating men does not hold the institutional power that misogyny does.
First off, individual men hating women doesn't hold the institutional power that misandry does either. Lets compare apples to apple please?
Second, do you really think misandry has no institutional power? I've already brought up divorce court issues, particularly relating to alimony. How about the way the criminal justice system treats men versus women? Look at sentencing applied to men and women for identical crimes... there is a systematic discrepancy. And you would argue this is not institutional? How many male teachers are there compared to women? Why do you think that is? What about a father taking his child to the park resulting in a call to the police because he appears "suspicious" just by being a man? It's not socially acceptable for a man to hit a woman, so why is it socially acceptable for a woman to hit a man?
You yourself have communicated that men are not worth the same consideration you give women. Fortunately, reality doesn't share your bias.
> [Misandry] does not hold the historical power that misogyny does
Point taken. And surely all that history makes it A-Okay to treat men badly. After all, men as a class must deserve it right? Or is it that you think women were treated so badly in the past they should be allowed to treat men badly? By ignoring mens issues, you're effectively condoning these actions.
I appreciate that discrimination has effects that last well into the future. But at some point you have to let go of the past. Acknowledging womens and mens issues in the present day keeps the focus where it belongs.
> I'm really sorry your feelings were personally hurt
The effects of gender discrimination is way worse than having one's feelings hurt. Having something done to you not through any action of your own, but because of the gender you were born with... As a feminist, surely you can understand that.
> I have a very hard time feeling bad for anyone complaining about something like this unless it outright affected their lives/livelihood/etc
Great. I don't feel bad for you either. After all, you never explained to me specifically how the patriarchy has oppressed you personally. I guess no one should ever try to fight on behalf of people who have been oppressed in one way or another? I guess we should just put feminism back in the box?
Actually, what the hell are you saying here? You aren't making any sense.
> There's a difference between that and hurt feewings.
Good point, you stupid cunt. Oh, did I hurt your feewings?
(Note that in the last two sentences I blatantly said something misogynist whose only possible effect was to hurt your feelings. But you know damn well there's more to feminism than that. Why do you hold mens issues to a different standard? You couldn't possibly be biased, could you? But another thing I wanted to do is put you in the same position as I am reading your original comment. It sure feels different receiving an insult than giving it, doesn't it? And you think it's perfectly acceptable to levy this attack on male readers... do you think it's appropriate for me to call you a stupid cunt?)
> Also, feminism rarely equates to misandry.
Says the misandrist feminist in her comment.
> I'm absolutely not saying it doesn't happen.
Woohoo! Progress!
> But again, this basically has no impact on anyone
Ugh. No impact on anyone. Really. I just did a quick google search on "boys in education." Look what I found!
http://www.theatlantic.com/education/archive/2013/09/how-to-make-school-better-for-boys/279635/ http://www.huffingtonpost.com/lori-day/why-boys-are-failing-in-a_b_884262.html http://www.heraldnews.com/newsnow/x914325092/ESTHER-CEPEDA-The-tough-world-of-boys-in-education http://www.amazon.com/Why-Boys-Fail-Educational-Leaving/dp/0814420176
I wonder what other impact I can find with additional 60-second google searches?
> so no, it's not "just as bad."
But it's still bad!!! Just bad in different ways, in different categories. Why the hell should a woman's suffering take precedence over a man's? Just because she's a woman?
Anyway, this felt good, but there are far more productive things to be doing with my life. Enjoy bringing your brand of feminism to the masses. Just realize you're part of the problem, not the solution. Read some of the other highly rated comments in this thread if you want to know how you should really go about feminism.
