I use this bad boy. A LOT. Because my work laptop is also locked down so i cant get to reddit, amazon, facebook or slack. So I switch a monitor to my personal computer and my work laptop would time out even though i was keeping an eye on whatever process i had set up to run. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MTZY7Y4/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_HS7EYYF9GQRKPWP5ZD0S?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Could try this.... Shows up as a mouse in devices, don't have to install software
I have a friend who swears by Mouse Jigglers. I've personally never tried one, but the idea is that a hardware device is plugged in and sends mouse events. The problem with many programs which simulate mouse movements is that these programs aren't able to truly mimic mouse/keyboard presses do to a virtualization layer between applications and a computer's hardware (this is to make it more difficult for hackers to steal your passwords using a keylogger).Using a physical device which acts as a mouse that is constantly jiggling might fix the virtualization issue. Again, I have never personally tried them, but seems to me that it might work where the applications you've tried have failed.
After a quick amazon search: amazon link
Just because the fucking light shows yellow does not mean you are not working. Just because the fucking light shows green does not mean you are working.
If you don't want to go on camera all the time, get a doctor's note for "non-verbal overload."
If they want to see the fucking light showing green, get a jiggler here. I've been using these for years at multiple employers.
WiebeTech MJ-3... Hands down...
I've been using it for years across several companies, including at a large financial institution. No issues whatsoever.
If you are afraid of it, then purchase a simple watch with a sweeping second hand and place your optical mouse on top of it.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MTZY7Y4 is the one I use - which looks like your first recommendation only lower profile. Got it plugged into my docking station at home. Not something I'd use in an office environment as it will keep showing input. I'll swap out the work laptop with the personal one later - because if I don't, folks will ping 24/7 thinking I am online. From a windows device perspective, it looks like a standard USB mouse. Things like thumb drives, smart phones, and other gadgets were blocked.

i have the Mouse Jiggler which a little UBS thing that plugs into my computer. it send a minute tiny mouse movement every several seconds which keeps the status light in Teams nice and green all day long.
What you need is a mouse jiggler. You can get it on Amazon. It doesn't install any software because it appears as a USB mouse to the host computer. Everyone needs to get one.
WiebeTech Programmable Mouse Jiggler MJ-3 - 30200-0100-0013 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00MTZY7Y4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apan_glt_fabc_D2MMFCTTS3K75XVMD26J
There are also USB mouse-jigglers. They show up as a mouse, and they move the cursor a set number of pixels in a set direction after a set amount of time. Here's one for an example. They're surprisingly expensive.. I would've thought ten bucks tops.
When I do virus scans on Windows boxes, some of the AV rescue disks will have a screen saver, I don't want that as I want to be able to glance over at the screen to check the status while I continue surfing the web on My Mint box.
This:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MTZY7Y4/
It will do exactly what you want right out of the package without any programming / config changes. It will work on any OS that can use a USB mouse, it just happens to occasionally move a few pixels every few minutes by itself.
No more screen saver or sleep modes kicking off without my knowledge, screwing up what I'm doing.
Windows 10 can be configured via group policy to not consider input from software applications when considering whether to set the computer state to idle and most corporate IT departments have picked up on this.
I have a whole handful of these that I use at work.
Looks like a wireless mouse receiver. Looks like a mouse to the operating system. Works on even the most locked-down computers.
There's a free app for it that lets you set up any combination of mouse/keyboard actions.
The default action is to move your mouse pointer 3 pixels in a random direction every 60 seconds when there's no input from other mouse/keyboard.
>I am trying to help someone who has a laptop from their company and they wanted their display to not go to sleep after three minutes.
You're not the admin? Don't try to outsmart stupid software. Just play the game on their terms and you'll win with far less effort.
I suggest a 1px move every 150s.
Sorry, you're an admin, but you're not the admin of the machine, assuming I read what you wrote correctly.
My point is that trying to solve software settings problems when you're not the admin of the system often involves far to much work for what are typically fragile and difficult-to-use solutions that never really satisfy normal users, even if they're okay for power users like us.
So think outside of the box instead and just get a mouse jiggler, since this is literally what they were made for. (That's a fixed version of the link from my post above.)
I actually purchased a few hardware "mouse jigglers" and put them in our conference rooms because people would too often not provide input during presentations and their screens would lock. Nothing to install, doesn't interfere with normal mouse action and works on highly locked down machines. https://www.amazon.com/WiebeTech-Programmable-Mouse-Jiggler-MJ-3/dp/B00MTZY7Y4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1545164200&sr=8-3&keywords=mouse+jiggler

There are also several simple free apps that work as well. I've used this one quite a bit: https://github.com/cerebrate/mousejiggler

People are stupid and greedy. There is no way around that.
You need a mouse jiggler usb. https://www.amazon.com/WiebeTech-Programmable-Mouse-Jiggler-MJ-3/dp/B00MTZY7Y4
plug this in, computer treats it as another mouse, no software install needed just plug in, every now and then it will move the mouse ever so slightly. I can happly work with it plugged in and not notice it when im active on the computer, and when im not active its keeping Teams and Skype saying im actively working. Great for a 6am start when I can just go back to bed for an hour or 2. Its been a life saver.
Or get a mouse wiggler.
What you need is a Jiggler
This sucks! If you can't quit right away, mouse jigglers like this one can combat the incessant inactivity threats.
Their are devices specifically made to fake out a computer:

Plenty out there like this and it has matching software you can use to program it however you like.
I like this one because it only moves the mouse slightly every couple of minutes so it doesn't interrupt any actual work I'm doing.
You can also buy little USB devices that do the same thing: https://www.amazon.com/WiebeTech-Programmable-Mouse-Jiggler-MJ-3/dp/B00MTZY7Y4

you mean the hardware one I've been using since 2018? https://www.amazon.com/WiebeTech-Programmable-Mouse-Jiggler-MJ-3/dp/B00MTZY7Y4
The Mouse Jiggler.
https://www.amazon.com/WiebeTech-Programmable-Mouse-Jiggler-MJ-3/dp/B00MTZY7Y4
Many work computers lock the screen way too quickly, requiring you to type your password in again and again and again. This device identifies as an external mouse and taps your mouse every 60 seconds to keep the screen from locking. So far, no work computer profile has been able to detect or defeat it.
I know you meant software. So I'll throw in Cygwin. I miss a lot of utilities from Unix when I work on Microsoft projects. So Cygwin is nice to have around.

Worth getting a mouse jiggler dongle. There are plenty around, but this is the one I have. Just looks like a USB mouse to the PC.
Get one of these mouse jigglers to keep your screen on. Shows up as a mouse in Windows so IT would need to be looking hard to find it.
Idle time monitors only require any mouse or keyboard input. Mouse jigglers are usb devices that randomly move the mouse cursor imperceptible amounts.
