I searched Amazon reviews for ones that specifically mentioned Prius and ended up with this vent mount. I have it attached to the far left side of the center passenger air vent, just above the LCD screen. It works perfectly and I highly recommend it!

I highly recommend a magnetic mount. I use this one. Actually, my whole family uses them now. It's the best mount we've tried, and we've tried a lot.

The mount is a magnet, and you'll get a magnetic sticker to attach to your phone so it sticks. I adhered the magnet sticker to my phone case, to avoid damaging the phone itself. You can just pop the phone onto the magnetic mount and pop it off. No meddling with annoying levers or clips or anything.

They also make ones that stick to your windshield, in case you don't like the vent-mount setup. :)

There is no metal disk needed. The GS8 will hold to a magnet with it's naked back. Though this means rolling with no case on.

Got one of these that I mount in the vent by the A pillar usually. If I'm using Google maps for Navi the A/C keeps the phone cool. It's easy to move around and I also use it in my work vehicle. You need a phone case to put the little metal plates in though.

I used the CD slot type in my last car but it messed the slot up so I didn't like the way it looked when it was not in the cradle. Plus I have a double DIN Pioneer now with no exposed CD slot.

Not really a cradle but they do offer that option.

In my 98 I use a vent mount with a magnetic end. Amazon Link . Basically my vents are stiff and are able to hold my phone up magnetically. Magnets on the vent, metal plate between my iPhone and case. Not sure, though, if the newer circular vents can do the same.

I just drilled out one of the pre existing holes on the proclip and put the magnet there. Works perfectly.

I bought a magnet phone holder from Parklea markets but they should have them at other phone places as well. It's insanely good. Phone never falls. I bought it just for easy traveling with a rental, and decide to replace my own car mount with it. It doesn't block volume buttons. Accessing the finger print reader might depend on your car. But it takes a second to take off and back on if needed.

I'm a fan of the magnetic ones like this, though vent mount might not be suitable for some cars (my dad's F150 has weird vents it won't fit on).

But if it works, it's great to just get in the car and stick it right on the mount and not fiddle with springs or clips. You do, however, need a phone with a built in magnet (samsung galaxy's have it, perhaps others) or use it with a case (the mount ships with metal discs you stick to the inside of the phone case).

Nope. I use a magnet car mount, something like this.

Nothing in today's smart phones are harmed by magnets. Everyone is scared of the idea of one near their smartphone because of the old days of Hard-disk drives and CRT monitors.

Heck, some smartphones have magnetic sensors for detecting nearby magnetic fields. This was taken advantage of by Google's initial Cardboard VR thing.

Best one IMO is called wizgear. It's the most minimalist and super low profile.

I put the metal piece you see on Amazon on the inside of my back cover. It works fine for me.

I use one of these magnetic mounts in the center vents.

There is no big advantage when renting a car. With that said, I’ve found a few additional pieces of equipment to be extremely helpful when using a car.

• The first is a phone mount. I like the WizGear universal mount. This snaps on to the automobile vent. There is also a small metal plate that slide between the inner and outer parts of my phone case so that I can mount the phone magnetically.

• The second piece of equipment is a small dual port auto charger

• The third piece is a sync cord long enough to go between the GPS mount and the power port.

As a bonus, the phone mount also works as a kick stand for the phone. Double duty!
