I have the Microsoft one and its pretty fantastic. Bass sounds great for music and they are comfortable for long gaming sessions. Plus, this one on amazon is $48 and comes with a free 3.5mm dataport jack. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IAVDQCK/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_0NBcxb3KAZ1QJ
Microsoft's Stereo Headset is about $44 on Amazon right now. I highly recommend it.
some rechargeable AA batteries with a charging station (or the official charging kit like someone else suggested)
I got a pair of the official headphones (http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-Stereo-Headset/dp/B00IAVDQCK/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1431981673&sr=8-4&keywords=xbox+headphones) and it has been great for surviving my wife wanting to watch crap shows on netflix when I want to play games (in the same room together). Probably not what you mean by survival kit though :)
Someone else said $50 gift card, bestbuy (and probably some other retailers) has a $45 gift card pack that comes with a $5 bonus card (so you get $50 for $45).
The official Xbox One Media Remote is also a pretty cool accessory (it's better if he has a kinect though, so you can use it to also turn on/off the TV and adjust the volume).
The Xbox One Stereo headset is like $45 and works great plugged into the PS4 controller. You could also sell the adapter it comes with for like $20 on ebay to make it a very inexpensive headset.
It comes with the the wired Xbox stereo headset you can still get it, kinda pricey tho. You can wait for it to go on sale, it was on sale for $20 not too long ago. Xbox One Stereo Headset https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IAVDQCK/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_C5M5MEDFKQ5ADQBE8F8S . I have also seen them on sale on geek
I have this one and really like it. Not the greatest headset on the market, but I was able to pick it up cheap. Game and chat audio come through, and it comes with the stereo adapter for the OG controller.
You mean these Microsoft ones? Tried those, didn't fit well. I had heard someone mention the HyperX ones before, maybe I should look into those more.
I use the Xbox One Stereo Headset from Microsoft. It's not quite as good as others I've owned, but they sound pretty good and the build quality is decent. Mine have gone through a good deal and still work perfectly.
Hey, sorry for the late reply, it's this headset. Let me know if you're still interested and I can get you pics or something.
It's an official headset.
Yesterday I was playing a mission with my headset plugged in and halfway through the mission (my first one after undocking the controller from the charger), my controller disconnects from the game in the middle of a firefight due to the battery dying. My character ended up getting killed - my first solo pve death. I was sad.
Maybe it didn't dock right on the cradle and wasn't actually fully charged. I didn't check the battery level before playing. I just assumed it was due to the headset because without the headset my battery life has been excellent.
I do also have an Astro A50 I am considering moving off my PC to my xbox, as it has its own power source. The only downside is it has more configuration to undergo and there doesn't seem to be any app to test my microphone to make sure it is working.
Does anyone know if the chatpad accessory that plugs into the controller works? Been thinking about grabbing one just for this.
And if so, does anybody know if it works with the official stereo headset (this one)?
I'd say to just upgrade to something newer, instead of buying a converter, a new higher quality headset would be much more satisfying to have. Even the simple Xbox One Headset would be good for you.
Let me know your price range, and ill find some good headsets for you if you want!
I've had the xbox one stereo headset for a year now and I've been pleased with it. It's comfortable and sounds really good for the price. It looks a little funny on my head but i don't wear it out in public. Xbox One Stereo Headset https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IAVDQCK/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_c1WzwbADPKT1F
Sound-whoring and UAV-spamming are both really common in BO3. Couldn't agree more about Dead Silence being your first unlock. It will get you kills from people not hearing you coming as well as making it easier to hear others. If you don't have headphones, get some. Dead Silence + Awareness means you can hear people from about 1/3-1/2 way across the map. Microsoft makes Turtle Beach style headphones now for pretty cheap. Make Ghost your next permanent unlock. Don't do it in the other order, otherwise it takes 105 levels to get both instead of 93.
edit - math
I used the Xbox One Stereo Headset before getting a splitter and modmic for my m50s.
According to Amazon, yes.
"Includes detachable Stereo Headset Adapter that puts the audio controls at your fingertips including volume up/down, microphone mute, and controls game/ chat balance."
Probably confusing to some people with the new controllers.
High end usually means expensive. In all honesty, I like the standard Xbox One Stereo Headset by Microsoft. These things are really comfortable, and sound just fine to me (for the price range they sit in). I've never had a buzzing noise with them, and have used them for about a year or so. Give them a shot.
You are right! You do not have to be playing a game together to have party chat active. Often times I invite friends to party right when I launch party and then go from there in to a game. You could be in party chat watching TV if you'd like. Also, if you have the Xbox Stereo Headset you can mix the volume and listen to the TV and party chat at whatever level is convenient to you.
Are you talking about this headset? http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-Stereo-Headset/dp/B00IAVDQCK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1424105950&sr=8-1&keywords=xbox+one+stereo+headset
Not sure if this is the case but the mic is very very sensitive, if you have it too close to your mouth, it will not work or your voice will be very faint on your party's end. You have to move the mic away from your mouth a little bit.
For some reason when you search it on Amazon, the listing is from a third party which is selling it for more than $25. If you go to the amazon listing for the headset, then you can select just the adapter for $25 from amazon.

Has anyone tried Atmos for Headphones with the Xbox Stereo Headset?
So for monitor I’m using an LG 24GM79G-B 24 inch 144hz and 1ms blur reduction monitor. 1920x1080 res
Headset (im not fancy with it) is the xbox one stereo headset
Under $50 and I LOVE this headset. Well worth the price. Works great for PS4 even though its Xbox Branded.
Xbox One Stereo Headset https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IAVDQCK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Zr8-zbZD6F3C0
I use the official Xbox ones, they work fine:
For that price, Microsoft's own stereo headset has pretty good reviews on sound quality and comfort. https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-Stereo-Headset-360/dp/B00IAVDQCK
I don't think you can buy separately the exact MS chat headset you're looking for. Are you against having a headset for party chat and game audio?
I use the SteelSeries 9H headset. In terms of durability, it's the best headset I've used.
I've also heard some good things about the Microsoft Xbox One headset.
You could always go a bit more generic with a new headset.
Or an Xbox Live Giftcard
It's this type of headset and here are some pictures of it. As for Destiny it's this edition and basically new but it doesn't have the codes. I installed the disc so it's in prime condition. Let me know if you'd like to proceed with the sale or you would like some more pictures :)
Xbox One Stereo
I've had these for over a year now. I just put them on a headset stand on my desk after using.
This one : http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-Stereo-Headset/dp/B00IAVDQCK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1459621876&sr=8-1&keywords=xbox+one+stereo+headset
xbox stereo headset comes with an adapter
So if I ordered this
I could plug it into my xbox one controller and hear my game audio through my headset, without having to lose the right ear audio?
You can usually find it on sale for $40.
The Xbox One stereo headset is actually a great deal and has pretty darn good audio: http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-Stereo-Headset/dp/B00IAVDQCK
Xbox One Stereo Headset. Great sound for the price, plus it comes with the headset adapter which is worth $20 on its own
Haha, that product description belongs here.
I thought this was important though:
>Important Note: THESE HEADSETS ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH PS4, PS3, XBOX 360, only for desktop and old laptop with two 3.5mm jacks. The green 3.5mm connector is for the audio, the red one is for the microphone and the USB connector is just for the LED light.
which would make that a no.
CA prices are tripping me out, also the availability of certain products in CA is weird. This is probably the cheapest I would go.
I would recomend just the basic Xbox One stereo headset, cheap and works well.
Also heard decent things about these Polks.
My original headset also broke but I use these and love em
I don't know if they make the equivalent on PS but these are awesome on XB1.
I have to use them so my kids don't hear all the swears.
Based on the edit2, if you only need it for xbone this should work xbox stereo headset
I've been using the Xbox One Stereo Headset for quite a while and it's been great.
it goes on sale all the time
been eyeing the official Xbox headset for a while... can anyone give me a review?
In your opinion, how does the Xbox One Stereo Headset compare?
https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-Stereo-Headset/dp/B00IAVDQCK i have these and their amazing
The Microsoft headset (this one) includes the adapter, and can be found relatively cheap.
They're not the greatest headset ever, but they're decent enough for the price.
For the record, the Xbox itself processes surround sound so you don't need a fancy turtle beach headset to get surround sound anymore. All you need is the stereo headset adapter and any headset to plug into the standard jack. This does, technically, mean that you could get the stereo adapter ($25) and plug your cheap iPod earphones in and get surround sound that way.
This is what I bought although I'm sure you can get it for cheaper somewhere other than Amazon. I like it, it does get uncomfortable for me if I don't adjust after like 3-4 hours but in general it's a good headset. It does not have mic playback so you can't hear yourself talk in your headset, that was really unsettling to me coming from turtle beaches and I'm not sure if the TBs for XB1 offer this feature but if that's huge for you then go with them, I got used to it however.
I highly recommend the xbox stereo headset its on sale at Amazon for about $60 but is a good quality headset for that price. It does game audio and voice chat and its pretty comfortable. When you don't want to use it, you can leave the puck in (chat adapter) and it stays out of the way, but unplug the headset's 3.5mm plug easily and without worries of breaking it.
