First time posting on this sub
With Halo Reach coming out today I wanted to play it with my old Xbox 360 controller wirelessly on PC but unfortunately a wireless receiver was just as much as a brand new Xbox One controller.
I realize this is the same price as Amazon currently but if you're like me and you don't want to wait 2 days but have a Wal-Mart less than a mile a way you can show them this deal at the register and they are supposed to price match anything sold and shipped by Wal-Mart.
I realize this may effect very few people but it certainly was a pleasant surprise for me! They originally rang up at ~$50 at the register. Also they had different colors but I bought black.
edit: formatting
Should be noted that Amazon still has the newer (Bluetooth wireless) model for only $10 more: https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-Wireless-Controller-Black/dp/B01LPZM7VI/ref=sr_1_2?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1488576794&sr=1-2&keywords=xbox+one+wireless+controller
>End Space and Overflight .... seriously approaches .... CV1 immersion.
Nooooo! That simply can't be true! Everybody knows SoCs aren't capable of "real" VR .... /s lol
Great to hear you really enjoy "Overflight", as I have high hopes for that one myself!
I just ordered this "XBOX Wireless Controller" from Amazon.
I searched for the XBOX One S wireless controller, but this is what kept coming up.
Would the one I just ordered work too, or should I cancel the order? Thanks!
They are all called Xbox Wireless Controller. What you want is the 1708 model for the One S/X released 2016-2020, like this one. You do not want the older one as it lacks bluetooth and you do not want the newer one (for Series S/X) as no device has full support for it yet.
To elaborate a little...
1st gen only had a proprietary port and required either a proprietary headset or an adapter.
2nd gen added a standard 3.5mm headset jack next to the port.
3rd gen changed the design a little, with more of a gradual transition to the logo area, and added bluetooth, so you can now connect to Steam Link, or a non-Windows-10 PC.
Newest (headset + bluetooth) version is currently $40 on Amazon! (That's probably the lowest you'll see)
Going to throw this out there but the newer versions of the controllers connect via Bluetooth and can function off any standard Bluetooth enabled motherboard or usb dongle.
I cant remember when they started but I have had 2 controllers for maybe 6 months or more with this functionality.
Link to amazon for bluetooth enabled controller: Xbox Wireless Controller Black
Look into the new version of the controllers, they now function via bluetooth so can be used with a bluetooth 4.0 usb or a motherboard with bluetooth functionality.
This may be available on controllers that are listed for PC use also. I do not own a Xbone but I do have 2 controllers wireless on my PC no proprietary dongle needed.

Es casi cualquiera que sea moderno (salvo el control Pro de Switch que no tiene gatillos analógicos).
Personalmente me gusta este. ¿Lo importo o lo compro acá Sr. Tonterías?
The second generation Xbox One controllers (these) have never done me wrong and are generally the default controller on Steam. I use the Wireless Adapter but I think they work with Bluetooth as well.
edit: On Amazon it shows up as being $75, I'd see if they sell them anywhere else since usually they were $60.
Yep, they'll take a rechargeable pack and recharge without taking the battery out! I use an official MS one and it works fine. The newer versions of that controller do have Bluetooth also. I'm in the UK but this should be the right one for US amazon, though imagine stock is short at the moment with them being pretty new: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LPZM7VI/ref=twister_dp_update?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I bought this controller from amazon: [Xbox Wireless controller]https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-Wireless-Controller-Black-one/dp/B01LPZM7VI/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=xbox%2Bone%2Bbluetooth%2Bdongle&qid=1572587027&sr=8-5&th=1)
and I have trouble pairing with my PC. I have Win10 updated to latest. The problem, is when I turn on Bluetooth on my PC and have it search, it can't even find the controller at all. I've tried all the options when I add a bluetooth device. Nothing shows up.
Sorry about the delay but, it looks like Amazon has a sale that are selling them new for 39$ https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-Wireless-Controller-Black-one/dp/B01LPZM7VI/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=xbox+one+controller&qid=1574674711&sprefix=xb&sr=8-4
This one connects to the Steam Link via bluetooth.
I just went to best buy and bought a xbox bluetooth wireless controller and it worked fine. (model 1708) I think it's this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LPZM7VI/
The wireless xbox controller that came with the original rift is not bluetooth and that doesn't work (model 1697)
This is the one I own: https://www.amazon.ca/Xbox-One-Wireless-Controller-Black/dp/B01LPZM7VI
It's a bit clicky for tactile feedback, which is good. There are no other versions of it unless you get an elite controller model, but I don't know much about how noisy it is.
So you're saying I can peacefully buy the new one (as you said, without the "one" in it's name) and just connect bluetooth?
Where do I get said Bluetooth? Also, what if I want to connect it via a cable? what exactly do I need to purchase? I'd like to buy everything together, if possible.
Thanks a lot!
So I hope this helps, I went through 2 controllers, one time the RB broke and the second time the LB broke. I'm able to temporarily fix them with super glue, but it will always break again.
Turns out the 2nd Gen controllers have really bad bumper design. Idk about your elite controllers though. The 3rd Gen has much better design, the one that comes with the One S, and you can order them here.

You can tell the generation by the faceplate next to the Xbox button, which is now all one piece rather than separated.
I got one and it feels much better. We'll see how it holds up, I use RB for air roll in rocket league and many actions in rainbow six, as well as minecraft and other games.
If it helps, i just replaced my busted 360 controller with an xbox one controller. It was only $62, rather than $80 you are worried about, on amazon. Shipped in one day with Prime.
I don't think 360 bumpers work on a one controller though, otherwise i'd offer you mine for parts.
Is this all I need? are there additional cables / batteries that I have to get separate?
I recommend a first-party Xbox One controller. They are all proprietary wireless but they all connect to a PC via any old USB to micro USB cable (no batteries needed) and are natively supported by the OS without any hassle of drivers. They are also very well made and good controllers (i.e. don't cheap out on an aftermarket). 360 ones also work but I always had driver issues with my 360 controllers and they aren't as nice IMO.
https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-Wireless-Controller-Black/dp/B01LPZM7VI
Newest (headset + bluetooth) version is currently $40 on Amazon! (That's probably the lowest you'll see)
I was also a long-time X360 holdout, but I eventually developed lots of L-stick drift, so I finally upgraded and it's great.
It was my right stick that messed up too. You can buy a cheaper brand xbox controller with a cord for like $25, and I've used one. It wasn't the worst experience of my life. The LB/RB buttons were raised which took some getting used to, but it will do in a pinch.
This is the one on Amazon that I got . I'm going to assume you don't have or don't want to spend the money on a new controller, which I totally understand. If you're in the U.S. and have had it less than a year Microsoft would have had to fix it, but of course taking it apart voided that. They just make shit quality controllers.
If you have an xbox 360 controller and a windows 10 (maybe 8 will work too?) computer, you can use it to play xbox one games via streaming. You hook the 360 controller up to the computer, open the xbox app, choose streaming, and now you are using your computer to control the xbox one. I have to imagine there would be more lag than worth doing end-game dungeons, but you can give it a shot and see.
If you are going to be exclusively using it as an Xbox controller, I'd recommend just picking up a regular Xbox controller, as it's much easier and has proper triggers. The Xbox Wireless Controller also now has Bluetooth so you don't need dongles.
The FC/NES30 Pro is only really useful as a portable controller for your phone and for retro games.
If it says on the box that it can connect to PC through bluetooth...it's the most recent one. Comes in a white box with Green accents.
There's been several revisions to the Xbox One controller since release, and the current version is excellent. This is the one I'm referring to. It has textured handles for better grip, much improved bumpers, and even Bluetooth to make wireless connectivity easier.
Thank you for pointing me in the right direction, I think getting the wiimote up and running will be a breeze. There is a particular model of the xbox controller that does have Bluetooth.
"Includes Bluetooth technology for gaming on Windows 10 PCs and tablets"
The bigger question is will it work with Linux, this is Microsoft we are talking about. I would rather go Bluetooth if possible so i do not have to add yet another dongle hanging out the back of the PC and i'm also already seeing interference on the 2.4 GHz band on my fiance's PC with the mouse and keyboard. I fear adding more signals on an already crowded band would not be the best option but not out of the question if Bluetooth is not an option.
What kind of monstrous region are you in that sells standard Xbox One controller for $180. 3.5mm port is standard on standard controller now.
The adapter is nice for adjusting volume though.
its a bit more expensive but if your pc has Bluetooth you dont need that dongle
Same price on amazon right now too
*edit
Went on Ebay and found this one slower shipping but no taxes

That's fair and understandable, but real customer data matters a lot more than impressions or reviews. It has 73% positive (out 7,800 reviews) on Steam and 4/5 stars (out of 2,700 reviews) on Amazon, the latter of which is almost identical to the Amazon review stats for the black Xbone controller and not far from the white one either. This suggests it's liked by the majority of people who decide to buy it, because unlike most "professional" games journalists, the people buying it are actual gamers who use it for more than a few hours.
The purpose of the controller's existence is to bring KBM games to the couch / living room. So after taking into account the generally positive feedback from users, the simplest explanation for why it hasn't been more commercially successful is that many PC gamers — I would guess the overwhelming majority — still play at their desks. Now some games absolutely require a controller regardless of whether you're at a desk or couch, but the nature of those games is such that they are already well-optimized for the Xbox controller, so buying a second controller has no value proposition for these cases.
Xbox One and DS4 controllers are both available for $45 at my local Costco. They regularly go on sale on various websites for $39.99.
Edit: both are $46 at Amazon. Yes, not exactly half the price, but not too far off. My point still stands, a lot more hardware crammed inside for less cost.

With Bluetooth/Without Bluetooth surprisingly the Bluetooth model is cheaper on Amazon.
Just double and triple check the controller you will buy will have Bluetooth.
Right, if you don't have a gamepad, you can't even get into the arcade room itself.
So I ordered the 2nd gen XBOX One S wireless controller from Amazon.

Any properly working controller will work with all emulators.
Here is a list of good emulators. You can use Retroarch for many things like SNES and GBA or use stand alone emulators. Some emulators like N64, PSP, and DS, the stand alone option is best.
Watch for sales in the coming week and you can probably get an official wireless Microsoft Xbox controller for around $35.

MSRP: Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price
ie. This is the price that the controllers are supposed to retail at. This is the price they are sold at when bought straight from microsoft, and is the typical price.
you keep saying "30$ is the actual price" when its not. just because you got it for 30 dollars does not mean thats the actual price. as an example: I bought GTA 5 on sale for 10 dollars, but im not gonna run around saying "hey everybody, i bought it for 10 dollars a month ago, and even though its not 10 dollars anymore, thats still the actual price, because thats what i bought it at." That doesnt make any sense.
even the cheapest xbox one controller on amazon is still 40 bucks, the rest sitting at 50. https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-Wireless-Controller-Black-one/dp/B01LPZM7VI/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=xbox+one+controller&qid=1575475888&sr=8-1
PS4 controllers are even more, with the cheapest being 45 and the rest sitting at 60. https://www.amazon.com/DualShock-Wireless-Controller-PlayStation-Black-4/dp/B01LWVX2RG/ref=sxin_3_ac_d_rm?ac_md=0-0-cHM0IGNvbnRyb2xsZXI%3D-ac_d_rm&keywords=ps4+controller&pd_rd_i=B01LWVX2RG&pd_rd_r=20ac6d3b-b227-48dd-9eba-710fd86f2f13&pd_rd_w=ynj6J&pd_rd_wg=lt1B2&pf_rd_p=e2f20af2-9651-42af-9a45-89425d5bae34&pf_rd_r=TFZR8CQ48W39E3QZ0A92&psc=1&qid=1575475916
you are literally spouting misinformation by claiming that the standard price of a controller is 35 dollars, even then i cant honestly think of a single time when thats been true in the past 20 years.

Unless you prefer wired.

Also I'd recommend getting the Keepa extension, easy way to see the price history of everything on Amazon as you browse.
According to it, that $53 is actually a markup from the usual $49.

Actually don't buy that. It comes with the old style controller , it's actually cheaper to buy one of the new S style controller (better bumpers, bluetooth, headphone jack, and textured grip) and the play and charge kit separately, here's the links for those:
I've been playing this game on a KB+M until now but now that I'm building a new PC, I'm thinking of getting a controller, too.
Will this be a good controller for this game?
Is this a good controller to get?
The newer one has normal bluetooth, so it connects to the built-in bluetooth of the pi3.

There's not a substantial difference. The xbox one controller has better ergonomics, a flush battery compartment, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The biggest difference is how you connect to your PC: bluetooth, wireless adapter, or USB cable.
Based off of this Microsoft article it can work through Bluetooth. I believe these controllers have it, and probably more.
You will have to get it repaired or purchase a new controller. One S Controllers are cheap on Amazon right now.

How about researching it a little and seeing that it has a good 3.8 out of 5 stars on Amazon. That is including people that are far more likely to review negatively than positively....

You glanced past the inclusion of replacing my DS4 & upgrading my PS4's HDD
Which totals at around A$760 in my country, which was around $650 USD at the time, I also only use a cheapo $15 Mouse/keyboard combo and the same TV my PS4 is connected to
Edit: Keeping under your $500 proposal, I have put together a PS4 comparable gaming PC, with keboard/mouse, wifi/bluetooth, a 1tb HDD as well as a 60GB SSD for the OS, an Xbox One S controller that will connect wirelessly to the bluetooth.
All new with most parts not being the cheapest possible but reasonable like the EVGA PSU with 80+ certified & the GPU having 4GB VRAM instead of 2GB
