one big upside to the artist 12 2nd gen is that it allows you to use USB C cable instead of a messy three-plug cable. However that laptop doesn't support it. If you think that there's a chance she might upgrade her laptop then the ability to use a single USB C is a huge convenience. If that's unlikely then it's not as much of a factor.
The pro has a wheel which a lot of people consider priceless - that being said you can also purchase accessories that can do the same thing if you really need https://smile.amazon.com/XP-PEN-AC19-Shortcut-Express-Keyboard/dp/B01NC2LEYP so that's also not a deal breaker.
The 2nd gen 12 comes in colors (if that's important to her) and has the newer pen (and is just a newer release than the 12 pro).
could always get a separate macro pad, though the tactile feeling of the wheel is def going to be different https://smile.amazon.com/XP-PEN-AC19-Shortcut-Express-Keyboard/dp/B01NC2LEYP
One really cool device I discovered is one of those graphics table support keypads. They come with a keypad and a large rotary dial.
And another I have this one. The wheel can dial volume up and down, then click the wheel button to control something else. You can bind any keyshortcut to any button. Makes a great side pad in flight games.
I bought it from x-pens site. It’s also on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/XP-PEN-AC19-Shortcut-Express-Keyboard/dp/B01NC2LEYP
I use this when working in Clip Studio, replaces my keyboard on my convertible laptop. Not super fancy but does what I need and it's only $35
Some people have had success using the nintendo switch joycons
