HOLY SHIT that is more than I paid for my graphics card during the Great Bitcoin GPU Depression of 2017 and it's not even a full set of speakers!
I mean I'm sure it sounds good but damn
I'm looking in to a desktop 2.1 or 2.0 speaker setup, and this is what I currently have picked out.
I primarily listen to the following genre's, and I will also be using it for gaming:
* Hip Hop
* Alternative Rock
I got suggestion elsewhere to look in to the KRK Rokit 8, but I was wondering if there were any other speakers worth checking out. Not sure if it matters, but I'm hoping for a simple DAC/AMP combo that I can also use with my headphones (62 & 25 Ohms). My budget is <$1,000 for speakers and <$500 for DAC/AMP.
Makes sense. The sub is the Yamaha HS8S:
Edit: It looks to have speaker outs (via R and L Output jacks).
You might be better served spending your money on a sub and some room treatment. HS5s are pretty good monitors anyway; if you chuck in what I believe is Yamaha's recommended sub for HS monitors, it should overlap nicely with the HS5s and fill out your spectrum (although somebody else probably has more knowledge on this). It's also worth investing in some room treatment, perhaps just some bass traps for the corners of your room to start (again, not an area I can give a lot of advice on).
If you live in a block of flats or something and can't really have a sub rumbling away, maybe best to buy some headphones with good bass response instead.
