I do stand on it a lot, but it's definitely something you work up to. When I first got it a few years ago, I could only stand on it for a couple of minutes at a time.
If you are balancing, you should be standing up straight, definitely should not be tilted forward. This is the one I have:https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00WJJJX2Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_R4ZBTPBB6EFXVTYXY06C
You can just search them on Amazon. I bought this one specifically because it had good reviews but more than a few in there look just like it with similar reviews, all highly rated. It's also REALLY helpful if you have recurring ankle sprains according to my buddy who used it for that specifically.

This is the best seller on amazon . Mine has a little different grip on top but same concept. Can probably make one yourself if your the handy type.
Oh man, I feel ya. I'm a single leg guy myself, not sure how I would handle going double. I have faith that you will overcome this. Maybe one of those balance thingys could help you practice at home or the gym?
Not necessarily thing thing, but something similar? I think there are a variety of them out there.
Happy to clarify :)
To get an idea of what I mean check the Amazon link below. You can find them other places but the wooden wobble is the best/cheapest for starting. I personally think it is harder than the bosu (like in the video) but not quite as hard as a roller/indo board. I’m other words, there’s levels to this shit. Start with the wobble and see where it takes you. I can’t do the rollers yet but I’m building to it.

What really helped me was a balance board, like this: https://www.amazon.com/Yes4All-Wooden-Wobble-Balance-Board/dp/B00WJJJX2Q/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1506551156&sr=8-5&keywords=balance+board. I started off easy with 2 leg balancing, then moved to 2 leg squats, and then finally 1 leg balancing. I've found its really helped with my walking and running, I just feel more secure on uneven surfaces.
A little small board with a half sphere on the bottom: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WJJJX2Q/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
You stand on it and balance. Really great stuff. Helps with your balance and secondary muscles in your legs, which is good for shooting. Stand on it while aiming and now you're working all sorts of secondary muscles, learning to counter sway, hold more accurately, and whatnot.
You'll get tired faster than you think standing on that thing aiming a pistol or rifle.
Pretty cheap and excellent training tool for offhand shooting.

Wobble Board, that's right. When I went to PT they had me on this all the time. Doing what I described above, doing lunges (front leg on this), single leg squats (holding onto the wall), catching a medicine ball twisting my abs and throwing it back, etc. Running is all single leg balance so this is perfect to build mobility and balance within your normal strength exercises.

A couple of pieces of advice,
(1) bend your knees. Bend them, and then bend them some more, while dropping your hips lower (some people bend at the waist thinking that it helps, it doesn't) the lower you are, the more stable you will be
(2) Get a foam roller and roll our your legs and glutes after a skating session to help keep those fried muscles supple
(3) if you're having a hard time with stability, get a wobble board off of Amazon, and use it every day at home. This will help dramatically with building all those lateral muscles that are currently under-developed. https://www.amazon.com/Yes4All-Wooden-Wobble-Balance-Board/dp/B00WJJJX2Q
(4) Have some fun!
