They brought it back, but I feel your pain.
Edit: all I know is that I went on after I got the news late as usual, and they had seemingly masked all the vids, pics, dicks 'n' chicks with NSFW overlays.
Also, y'all should read this. I haven't, but it's a step in the right direction judging by some of your pm's.
Yes.
Porn takes your neural circuitry that usually lights up with sex, and burns it out. That’s the long and short of it. Check out “supernormal stimulus.”
Also, this book helped me a TON. It’s got a lot of science in it.
Personally? No. I had an ex husband like this and he cheated on every one after me as well. It’s not really about you as much as it is about him. Most people who do this would do it to anyone.
Sex addiction uses the same neural pathways in the brain as drugs to chase that new relationship “high” he will always be seeking that feeling and there is a 0% chance you can continue to be his “drug” so to speak.
No matter how amazing, sexy and beautiful you are as a person you can’t be new for 50+ years. That’s why some of the most beautiful people still get cheated on.
Partners with healthy relationships and boundaries understand this and work together to overcome the issues that come up when the newness fades.
I was sexually abused and that has ZERO to do with his ability to be faithful.
It would be a BS excuse if he ever uses that as a reason and as someone who was also assaulted at a young age I would call him out on that as a shameful POS to say that’s the reason.
This book is really great for understanding how this cycle is working for him. Your Brain on Porn: Internet Pornography and the Emerging Science of Addiction https://www.amazon.com/dp/099316160X/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ypXkFbK063VN4
Is it this?
I caught my nephew looking at the same thing. It’s inevitable.
But, it’s not just the issue of portraying women badly. It messes with their head. Anyone’s really, but much more younger people.
I recommend reading a book called, “Your brain on Porn”
Basically, it creates issues ranging from, ED with a real woman, depression,ADHD, this is much more prevalent in younger people too and takes longer to fix in someone that grew up watching porn. Highly recommend for parents.
Secondly, I’m not sure the age of your son. But, I recommend NextDNS. I used that to block as much as possible. Obviously even they are of age they can do whatever. But, I caught my nephew looking when he was 13. He’s 15 now, and he still finds stuff. But it’s way less because I can see the websites he goes to on next DNS. In two years he’s only found 1 porn site that wasn’t on the block list.
I'm sorry for the whole situation, but I want to offer a recommendation for "Your Brain on Porn" by Gary Wilson to you. It's a secular look at the dangers of porn and the neuroscience involved. Although I don't think this situation is ideal, I think porn is a lot more dangerous and harmful than most people realize. I'm speaking from a place of experience and sympathy here. I'm not here to accuse you, but to warn you that these things can be more harmful than is obvious.
A book about the effects of pornography on one's brain. An essential read.
And I don't mean this flippantly but if you're serious about fighting this addiction you have to get serious and take responsibility for your own education and really and truly care about it. This community doesn't take it seriously enough; guys have said that recovering from alcohol, heroin, and crack addiction has been easier than recovering from porn addiction.
I was reading "Your Brain on Porn" (An excellent book by the way) that goes into detail about abusing porn and the negative side effects on your life. It talks about how people would slowly start to develop these violent fetishes when the hardcore man on woman sex become "boring" (vanilla). Also you begin to think all women should be super thin and blond vixens instead of just dating a real, down to earth woman. One of the few books on the market that is telling the truth about porn.
Why don't you actually do the research?
Most of the credited studies are secular and focus on issues of addiction and neurology and how it causes depression, anxiety, etc etc.
Here's a place to start.
Actually, what you probably need is more connection with real people. That's what your brain evolved to seek and find soothing.
And "on line" may not always be so treacherous for you. Just give your brain time to get back in balance. Watch the vids at www.yourbrainonporn.com, or read this: http://www.amazon.com/Your-Brain-Porn-Pornography-Addiction/dp/099316160X
Order this and read it at least 3 times. This book will change your life. I have personally seen the benefits in my life.
Here a link to the book on Amazon.
Thanks for sharing!
I am right there with you. I am introverted and I def like keeping my energy in check. It sounds like you may need to find another purpose besides working and building your body. Also, if you haven't read it, I wish I did years ago when I first heard of it:
I appreciate the limited distractions of a flip phone as well, but you are correct. I may go back to a smartphone at some point, we'll see.
No one can do it for you, just like no one can breathe for you. Good news: if you can breathe for yourself and sleep for yourself, you can change for yourself. You just need some guidance. Good news: there's a book that has tons of guidance.
Your Brain on Porn by Gary Wilson is short, and the third section has tons of advice on how to stop. Read it. It's like 3 coffees. How much time do you spend on PMO? How much is your time worth? Make some changes if you want things to change. You got this!
Hi there ~ hugs ❤️
I'm really sorry to hear about your struggles with pornography. It breaks my heart that you got hooked on PMO at such a young age, but you're hardly to blame. It's damn near impossible to avoid pornography in the 21st century. You are so incredibly NOT alone. Anhedonia is to be expected with excessive PMO. There IS an end in sight, if you're willing to put in the work.
I have a few suggestions for you:
1) Find a therapist who specializes in pornography addiction.
2) Educate yourself.
Watch Gary Wilson's TED Talk
Read Wilson's book "Your Brain on Porn"
Go nuts on Fight the New Drug; it is hands-down the most informative website re: pornography.
I'm not trying to make you feel bad, but it might help if you know the truth about pornography sites. Pornhub, in particular, is F-ed up beyond belief. For more information, visit traffickinghub.com. Pornhub execs are well-aware that their website hosts countless rape videos (the youngest victim that I know of was THREE YEARS OLD). As if rape isn't traumatic enough, imagine that your rapist uploads the video of your rape & Pornhub refuses to remove it? Seriously, this had happened to countless TEENS and women. Imagine if this happened to your mother, your sister (if you have one), the girl you like, or any other important person in your life! Pro-tip for anyone in this situation: Threaten Pornhub with a lawsuit, and you might have luck getting your rape video removed.
3) Find peer support. Here are couple of options:
If you haven't already, join r/NoFap
Regardless of which online peer support group you join, post EVERY DAY. Read other people's stories, ask questions, report progress, find an accountability buddy, etc. Namely, engage with these people & stay active!
Thank you for reaching out for help & best wishes on your road to recovery 🙏 Like I said, there truly IS an end in sight, promise.
Unconsciously browser pocket? Like the mozilla bookmarking software?
Hmm, maybe you're not prepared. Perhaps read some success stories and see how many people overcame what you think you cant, see how they were in your exact position and felt as weak and powerless as you do. But notice how they took it one day at a time, they coped, they strategized, and slowly--before they even noticed- they were at 5 days, then 10,20,40, and then 90 and beyond.
yourbrainonporn.com is always a great site to reference for motivation, the book is also quite short and very cheap on amazon

Goodluck, and if you're feeling down come on here and flag your post for help!
No offense, but just wait for 5 or 10 years and you'll see !
