For reference, I was planning on getting these zealous brand bearings specifically because they seem to last really long and don't need much maintenance once they're broken in, whereas something like bones reds seems to need cleaning/replacing a lot more often. Can somebody attest to the quality of these? Is there another good pair of bearings that's particularly low maintenance and a bit more "set it and forget it"?
There's probably vids on YouTube for what's acceptable noise and change noises. I have been running stock bearings on the drive wheels and zealous on front for over 600mi on the v1 and about 200 mi on the v2. Put them in when I got the boards and haven't changed since.
Skip the ceramics, these free spin at least as long as bone ceramics and are cheap to replace. Zealous bearings on amazon https://www.amazon.com/Zealous-Bearings-Longboards-Skateboards/dp/B00BL9VCRE
I’ve never waxed wheels, only used a little paraffin wax in my trucks before to stop squeakiness, so I can’t speak to wax. I’ve seen Bones Redz speed cream recommend before. As for bearings, Zealous are a great option bc they’re cheap, well-lubricated, and last a long time! Get the built-in speed rings & spacers, like this: Zealous Bearings for Skateboards and Longboards (Steel) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BL9VCRE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_GE78HJJPME47KRB9YNVD
I am new to bb and skateboards in general so pardon my ignorance.
I will be buying zealous ones (these actually http://www.amazon.com/Zealous-Bearings-Longboards-Skateboards/dp/B00BL9VCRE) and I just wanted to be sure that you replace both the front and back bearings correct? And are those a good kind?
there is the link to the amazon bearings. It seems like youre trying to buy from there. I think you can buy them cheaper of Muirskate, though.

Not super expensive but very very durable. Free roll is kind of pointless on an esk8 tbh but durability is not haha.
Zealous is great for the price. If you can find them, go with them.
Here are a few online sites for Canada that have them:
https://www.amazon.ca/Zealous-Bearings-Longboards-Skateboards/dp/B00BL9VCRE (I know, don’t buy from Amazon if you can avoid it)
https://www.amazon.com/Zealous-Bearings-Skateboards-Longboards-Steel/dp/B00BL9VCRE/
Zealous are available on Amazon, also recommend
I would go ahead and swap out the bearings with some zealous ones. The included ones work but they are not great.
Theselink good?
US amazon zealous bearings https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BL9VCRE/ref=twister_B075KPZQHF?_encoding=UTF8&th=1
edit : They also carry the bushings. There are hard, medium and soft.
Where are you seeing zelous for 40? They're $16 on Amazon Zealous Bearings for Skateboards and Longboards (Steel) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BL9VCRE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_HyxbDbHEF18RZ
Standard zealous bearings : https://www.amazon.com/Zealous-Bearings-Longboards-Skateboards/dp/B00BL9VCRE
Thanks all so much. Just ordered these: https://www.amazon.com/Zealous-Bearings-Longboards-Skateboards/dp/B00BL9VCRE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1471448134&sr=8-1&keywords=zealous+bearings
Is there any trick to changing the back bearings?
Damn good deal! Get you some Zealous bearings and enjoy :)
You mean this? Whoa there is a built-in spacer as well.
You're right, I think they're charger Is. http://www.daddiesboardshop.com/gullwing-chargers-longboard-skateboard-trucks-black
Yeah doing it at 15 doesn't seem to scary actually, because even if I bail, I'll probably lose some speed anyway in the process before I bail. I'll get kneepads if I feel I need them. I did watch the video where the guy explained that you can basically slide on your gloves and kneepads comfortably after falling.
Alright, I'm going to order the: Triple 8 Brainsaver helmet
Zealous bearings: http://www.amazon.com/Zealous-Bearings-Longboards-Skateboards/dp/B00BL9VCRE
Bushings however I'm not sure. There are different types of bushings. DH Venom Bushings, SHR, this one says it's only for Ronin trucks: http://www.daddiesboardshop.com/venom-tall-double-barrel-bushings-1?gclid=CLz6w5PGxMUCFY0XHwodsrsAlA
Also, I've read people complaining about the washer and the bushing not fitting. Do you think that might be a problem? Did you have that problem with your chargers? Do I need a larger kingpin?
Browse around for boards you like. Go into skate shops, internet, etc. For cruising really what matters most is your bearings. Zealous bearings are the way to go for that. I'm gonna link a few board from amazon, but don't think you need to buy one of these, these are just suggestions and places to start. Try other sites until you find something you are happy with.
EDIT: Seriously why do people downvote shit like this? I'm just trying to help the guy. I literally told him that he shouldn't get the boards I link. Seriously, someone please tell me why this is being downvoted. Is it because I used amazon, one of the most trusted sellers on the planet?
