you will still burn your mouth from your coffee days later in this sucker https://www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-SM-KHE48AG-Stainless-Steel-16-Ounce/dp/B005PO9T44/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?adgrpid=54527844125&gclid=Cj0KCQjw2K3rBRDiARIsAOFSW_545FztJw3-pb8bFO-f8A7UDR1NTUqTjMBlysNCdvC9IKIDns6J_fgaAriwEALw_wcB&hvadid=274745891416&am...
A mug by this company is ideal for soups, coffee, even stews if you bring a bowl to pour it in. I have had coffee scalding my mouth 14 hours later. I often have to open it, let the contents cool and then consume because it retains heat so well.
Sorry for the Amazon link, I'm on mobile. This is the one I have. They fit perfectly in backpacks and can be strapped to a bike. Mine survives concrete floors and being dropped all the time. It's not pretty but still works as good as I got it in Jan of 2014.
Zojirushi SM-KHE48AG Stainless Steel Mug, 16-Ounce, Smoky Blue https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005PO9T44/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_et-sxb3DDC6EY
[Edit] I see they have a 32 oz version now which is double what I have! I'll be buying it so I can bring coffee and a meal now!
When I used to work in the freezer I would use this Zojirushi thermos. I would usually make my tea at 8 pm then I would have it in the -10 freezer from 3 am to around 7am and it would still be nice be hot, I would sometimes leave the lid open to cool it down. I haven't had problems with it leaking and if I remember the reviews from when I bought it not many other people do either.
That sounds really inconvenient to have to unscrew and rescrew the cap in that short a time. The Contigo really takes pretty much no effort to clean, but if you're worried about it something like http://www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-SM-KHE48AG-Stainless-Steel-16-Ounce/dp/B005PO9T44/ might be better.
I travel by bike a lot (Would never take any drink but water with me for that but it's more physically involved than a scooter) and wouldn't seriously consider anything that can't be opened with one hand it the time it takes to get from your bottle holder to your mouth, and closed equally quickly.
Tegenwoordig heb ik een middelgrote thermoskan (500ml) waar ik mijn eigen koffie in pleur. De koffie blijft tot aan het eind van de dag mokerheet.
To improve upon this habit, get a bottle that you like and is easy to carry. I carry a Zojirushi because I personally like the "metallic" taste you tend to get with metal bottles and this bottle is slim so it tends to fit easily in my back pocket when I'm walking around. For those that wear form fitting clothing, that may not be an option for you.
So if you missed it in the mail soon, but it's a frustrating solution. They have a few pieces of barware that I have to disagree on the quality and value. (and that is on the very low end of quality, locally roasted bag of coffee, and a Zojirushi 500 ml mug.
Yeah, I wouldn't do it. I'd rather not have plastic melting into my coffee. Even if you were to do it safely, luke warm coffee isn't very good.
I'm gonna link you to this thing. It is by far the best tumbler I've ever used for hot coffee (or even cold coffee). It doesn't leak, it keeps everything super hot for a really long time, and is really easy to drink from.
This is the one I have and like I said, the white plastic mouthpiece pops out for cleaning and the sillicon stopper can be pulled off to clean as well. Cleaning is very easy with this and I really like it.
I use a double walled metal travel mug fromZojirushi and love it. The outside doesn't get hot/cold from contents, no noticeable flavor change, stays hot/cold forever (iced drinks still have whole cubes when I get home after work and have dinner).
I see, I was in the same situation before I started just taking buses everywhere.
At this point, I would recommend the Zojirushi, but don't use the mouth-piece. Unscrew to drink. When drinking out of the mouth-piece, the coffee turned extremely sour, and I have no idea why. You will have to use soap and a brush everyday after use.
It's only $24 for a 16oz http://www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-SM-KHE48AG-Stainless-Steel-16-Ounce/dp/B005PO9T44
The Klean Kanteen thermal consistently leaked in my bag while cycling, so I honestly don't recommend that. If you do get the Zojirushi, definitely let the coffee cool a bit (just to where you can drink it without burning your tongue) before putting on the lid.
This mug is ridiculous. I can't drink my tea 6-7 hours after I fill the mug because it's got some insulation magic. Found it on the BIFL subreddit and use it every day.
I have two of these, one for coffee and one for water. http://www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-SM-KHE48AG-Stainless-Steel-16-Ounce/dp/B005PO9T44/ref=sr_1_1?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1423365193&sr=1-1&keywords=zojirushi+thermos
I had this bottle sitting out in the sun for hours and even though the bottle was hot to the touch the water inside was still cold. Definitely worth the money. The downside is 16 oz is a bit small. I would love something bigger for water.
Zojirushi AKA best travel mug ever
I drove from CA to DC with this mug, would fill up with coffee in the morning, and it would still be warm mid-afternoon.
I've had one of these for a while now and it's absolutely fantastic. Couldn't recommend it more!
Yes.
A bit expensive, but your coffee will be hot and wonderful for 12 hours straight. this thing is magical.
I use this one and I like it: https://www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-SM-KHE48AG-Stainless-Steel-16-Ounce/dp/B005PO9T44
Edit: for the record, I posted this before the lasybugs thing took off
You're not going to make any great progress on a PC build for that price. Besides, PC tech is changing so quickly, you shouldn't buy any one piece of it until you can buy all of it.
If you're looking for X1 games, I'm a huge fan of Destiny, but it's not for everyone. If you're looking for more of a sure hit, check out Shadows of Mordor or Dragon Age: Inquisition.
If you want to change things up a little, here are some of my favorite purchases (I'm a minor Amazon addict):
A super high quality door-hung b-ball hoop (you'll want to buy a nerf ball with it, the one it comes with is dangerous to valuables in the room)
A classy and useful EDC knife (there are lots of options on this front, /r/knifeclub has great recommendations)
Check out my sub /r/everymanshouldhave for more recommendations like this. It's not super active of late, but it has some great suggestions if you look at the history
For hot drinks you literally can’t beat Zojirushi
It keeps liquid so hot it’ll burn your mouth 8 hours later.
they make a version without the coating https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005PO9T44/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_Ei8-FbZC776CW
If you don't mind using a second vessel, I am a big fan of the Zojiruchi insulated mugs. I had the same problem with the Bonavita carafe, so I switched to glass, then use the Zojirushi to keep the remainder warm. It is practically magic the way it works. 5 pm and the coffee is still hot.
https://www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-SM-KHE48AG-Stainless-Steel-16-Ounce/dp/B005PO9T44/ref=sr_1_1
I initially used this, but it was TOO HOT to drink . go figure. https://www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-SM-KHE48AG-Stainless-Steel-16-Ounce/dp/B005PO9T44
I use this daily now. https://www.amazon.com/Contigo-AUTOSEAL-Insulated-Stainless-Easy-Clean/dp/B00HZI5WXU
Thinking about switching, as I get a weird taste imparted when using the press and sip top, I normally just screw off the cap and drink it from there.
EDIT: You're in luck, both are on sale right now. The Zojirushi isn't but a competitor "Tiger", they are both asian brands with reputable thermal insulation, is on sale. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?sdtid=9761131&SID=37b7f560efdd11e68694eac75121984d0INT&AID=10440897&PID=1225267&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-cables-_-na-_-na&item=N82E16803607016&cm_sp=
The amazon link should show a lower price of 11.77. Pretty good price, normally around 15-20
I'm also in the UK and you absolutely can get a Zojirushi travel flask for less than £60. Here's an example: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Zojirushi-Stainless-Vacuum-Insulated-Travel/dp/B005PO9T44/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=zojirushi&qid=1663842481&sr=8-7&th=1

I paid £30 for mine 5 years ago and it's still going strong. It's held my tea hot from 7am - 9pm.
I used to use this one back in college:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B005PO9T44/
I washed it everyday no problem. That's all you really need to do.
Zojirushi insulated coffee mugs. Seriously…
Zojirushi Stainless Steel Mug, 16oz, Smoky Blue
And they look cool too.

Seconding the practical suggestions. A spill-proof thermos or waterbottle, or an upgraded work bag would be great. If he makes most of his own lunches for work, look into insulated lunch bags (love mine!) and some meal-prep containers that would fit inside.
Med school is crazy stressful. Anything that makes things easier/simpler/more economical is huge. How does your brother de-stress? Anything to support those habits would be really sweet.

Brought this last December, it started to leak after 6 months... YMMV I guess
Zojirushis don’t leak and keep your coffee hot. My wife loves Yeti tumblers, not because the tumblers are any better than other brands, but because the magslider Yeti lids are better. Magsliders don’t leak and are easy to open and close one-handed.

I love my zojirushi.
Zojirushi mugs are made in Thailand. They're more known for their narrow vacuum insulated coffee mug, but they have a wide mouth version and apparently they also have a tumbler now . The coffee mugs are leak proof and can be thrown in a backpack, not sure about the tumblers. I have been using their coffee mugs for years and have several of them.
Any of these strike your fancy? https://www.sfbags.com/collections/shoulder-messenger-bags
I have the cargo, only the flap is leather but the liner is nice. I believe the rough rider is all leather.
As for the adult sippy cup needs I've had one of these Zojirushi travel mugs for several years with no issue. As a plus they're slim, and feature a lock on the lid. (The only issue I have is that my coffee stays too hot ) http://www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-SM-KHE48AG-Stainless-Steel-16-Ounce/dp/B005PO9T44
I bought a Zojirushi water bottle and it's honestly the nicest water bottle I've ever had. I put ice in it overnight to test it out, and when I woke up the ice literally hadn't melted at all. Plus I've basically thrown it at the concrete multiple times and it still holds up.
Here's the rice cooker. It's on sale for $271 right now.
Would this change your mind? :] It works too well
I just make my coffee at home and bring it with me to work in one of these.
Is it true that freezing a coffee mug over night will kill all of the bacteria thus get rid of the smell?
Someone told me to do this with my protein shaker but I forgot to try it.
this commuter mug is very durable and high quality but I'm not sure if you can justify $30 for a to go mug. it keeps coffee hot 8 hours, I'm talking HOT. it still stays warm after 8 hours
