Just checked US prices. They are still $50 higher then what I paid 18 months ago for a Zotac 1060 3gb (regularly priced, not on sale $220ish). Definitely more reasonable but still jacked up. My GPU is halfway through its lifespan so I have been hoping that it makes it until the prices return to normal. If my GPU dies before then I will either have to downgrade or buy a used console because I can't afford current prices.
ETA: ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1060 Mini 3GB GDDR5 Super Compact Graphics Card (ZT-P10610A-10L) This was the card I bought and here it is listed on Amazon where I bought it.
Unfortunately my best option is to purchase everything from Amazon due to free shipping to Singapore. Buying locally or from other websites that don't offer free shipping would burst my budget extremely quickly.
So, the PSU on Amazon is currently $35, which is a good enough deal for me, and the RAM is $106, which is the best deal I could find for RAM on Amazon. It's about $10 more expensive than 2400mhz RAM, but I think $10 is worth the faster RAM for a Ryzen system (Or so I've heard).
I found a this however, which I wouldn't mind getting over the 1050 TI, for only $20 more.
Do you think my thoughts are valid? Thanks for you input! :-)
Unless you're looking specifically for the 1060 6GB, grabbing a 1060 for $230 should be no big deal.
If you don't like the mini, there are dual-fan versions on Amazon for $235, and cheaper elsewhere.
Thanks for this info. I have seen few posts that HP800 PSU can be changed for better one (one link is in my above comment-for example), so probably PSU alternative at 450W would be possible, right?

By ''half-height'' you mean ''MINI'' version of graphics cards?

GTX 1060 is about 6% better in USERbenchmark compared to RX 570, do you think MINI VERSION would fit in my SFF case?
1060 AMAZON.DE It seems it's less than an inch longer than LOW PROFILE card.
Used version seems very tempting to me :)
I've been waiting to see if the 1050ti would go on sale (I missed black Friday), and I came across a 1060 mini for $190. I know it's a good bit more than the one listed here, but from what I've read it's a pretty good deal (I'm working on my first build, total newbie).

i really suggest just tossing that SSD from your list and just checking every week/day for deals (there are always deals on newegg for SSDs you'll see one for sure there if not on amazon or pcpartpicker)
Then you can grab this:
https://www.amazon.com/ZOTAC-GeForce-Compact-Graphics-ZT-P10610A-10L/dp/B01KKJAJM4?
That's appropriately priced and it'll run really nicely instead of you grabbing an overpriced rx 480. You'll probably never see a fairly priced rx 480 since the market for cryptocurrency realllllly hunts aggressively for them
Ive decided on the ryzen 1600 and i think ill be getting this 1060: https://www.amazon.com/ZOTAC-GeForce-ZT-P10600B-10M-Compact-Graphics/dp/B01KKJAJM4/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1498101769&sr=8-4&keywords=gpu%2Bgtx%2B1060%2B6gb&th=1 Do you think that will do well?
Is this the best deal for a mid range card currently? All the RX470/480s seem to be on backorder...
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01KKJAJM4/?tag=pcp0f-20
My monitor is only 1080p 60hz anyways. Plan to keep the new card and my monitor for 2-3 years
I was thinking of getting this card if I decided on just a GPU upgrade- https://www.amazon.com/ZOTAC-GeForce-Compact-Graphics-ZT-P10610A-10L/dp/B01KKJAJM4
I know it would be bottlenecked by my fx 6100 CPU, but the performance gain might be better than what a CPU upgrade would give me. I've been pretty conflicted about this for a while tbh, still kinda confused. Also next time I'm at my PC I'll test my cpu :)
I've taken your advice and switched to the i3 6100, but I'm thinking to go with the Zotac GeForce GTX 1060 3GB for the GPU - what are your thoughts on this?(https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KKJAJM4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER)
do not get a 470! you can get a 1060 for $199 milse better than the 960 and better than the 470 also
its a mini version but that doesnt matter.
here is the amazon link
>GeForce GTX1060 3GB
12K ??? Good luck mate!! you need all the luck in the world.
You can get a brand new Zotac GeForce GTX1060 3GB for 13K in amazon.
https://www.amazon.in/Zotac-GeForce-GTX1060-Graphics-Card/dp/B01KKJAJM4
Well that's on the lower spectrum but still alright. I'd recommend a 1060. Zotac's the cheapest on amazon iirc. It's 2000 more than your budget but the jump from 1050ti will be worth it imo
Here are a few links I found about compatibility with a i5 4440 and 1060- (Found a thread on this on reddit but cant link it) | Tom's forums | Some guy on youtube
Your CPU shouldn't bottleneck it, go for it. If not, look at the 1050ti.
Wish list this in amazon. I have seen this in lightling deal for around 16k
GPU https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01KKJAJM4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_7?smid=AKMHHYFSCNHE4&psc=1
I would grab this right away. GPU prices increased by a lot so it is worth

This is all on Amazon and cost £799.74
i couldn't get it on Pcpartpicker as prices wont show.
Im saying this now. Buy that GPU because it is a 1060 3gb what normally goes for £200 and it is costing £160 what is big
This is the cheapest 1060 on Amazon ($290), although it's one of those mini cards.
I also see a used 1060 on eBay for $210 total, which seems kind of low.
Ok, for virtual machines, RAM is key. 16 GB RAM is ideal. Also, look at the reliability of Kingston for SSD. I use the Samsung EVO line for SSD and haven’t had problems with it. You don't want to cheap out on the SSD. Its just a little cheaper than the Samsung, but the difference isn't that much. Instead, I would reconsider your choice of GPU.
Are you going to use a 4K monitor any time soon? For just using a 4k display, a 1060 is good enough. But for 4k gaming, a 1060 will be a major disappointment. 4k gaming can only be done with a 1070 (with low-medium settings) or 1080 (medium to high settings).
So, if you are limited to 1080p gaming, get a 1050 or 1060. Next, if you are limited to 1080p gaming, why bother with 6GB ram on the card? Get a lower RAM spec 1050 or 1060 instead. I use a 3 GB Geforce 960 and it is good enough for Doom 2016 on medium-high settings on 1080p. However, I don't recommend the 9 series any more as it is too old (unless you're really constrained by budget)
Consider these two options ..
GeForce GTX1060 3GB which is approx 21k https://www.amazon.in/Zotac-GeForce-GTX1060-Graphics-Card/dp/B01KKJAJM4
GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB which is under 15k https://www.amazon.in/Zotac-GeForce-ZT-P10510B-10L-Express-Graphics/dp/B01M27X994
I can personally vouch for the Zotac brand for GPUs. I have used 2 in the past and they were both very reliable.
I will never recommend MSI for motherboards. I have had very bad experiences with MSI and Gigabyte. Only ASUS has been reliable in all of the builds I've made for myself and others.
edit: added recommendations and price for GPUs
I'd say go with this graphics card, it should run something like PUBG for example. https://www.amazon.com/ZOTAC-GeForce-Compact-Graphics-ZT-P10610A-10L/dp/B01KKJAJM4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1513990080&sr=8-1&keywords=1060+mini
If you don't believe me, listen to what GN said in his brief mention to the 3G vs 6G. Within 12% at most in worse scenario.
https://youtu.be/9YOQq5_bwHc?t=7m18s
> ...In most scenarios, we are more likely to be bound by cores than VRAM limit for both cards.
> ....To all those claiming the higer capacity (1060 6GB) will last longer in the long run.....we are more likely bound by ROPs/Cores prior to become memory bound.
The one exception is Shadow of Mordor's 0.1% low, but that is 0.1%. In that case, drop down a notch and then its fine.
Cheapest 1060 3G vs Chepeast 6G. Worth 90 bucks more?
A different model but 10 pounds cheaper at £179.99: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Zotac-GeForce-NVIDIA-Cores-Graphics/dp/B01KKJAJM4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1505777946&sr=8-1&keywords=ZOTAC+Nvidia+GeForce+GTX+1060+3GB
There's an 1060 3GB on amazon.de for €200.
If you wana get a lil more expensive you could get a 1060 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KKJAJM4/?tag=pcpapi-20#nav-search-keywords for about $180 USD and get more memory (16 gigs). Plus there are cheaper cases that work just fine like this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NGCS7YA/?tag=pcpapi-20, other than that spot on man great parts
Ps. You could probably find some cheaper parts in store pick ups
Thanks - is the Zotac 1060 mini this one?: https://www.amazon.com/ZOTAC-GeForce-Compact-Graphics-ZT-P10600A-10L/dp/B01KKJAJM4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1489535790&sr=8-3&keywords=zotac%2B1060%2Bmini%2Bpc&th=1
It looks like that is still 6.8 in x 4.4 in x 1.6 in if I'm reading right, so too big (which is surprising to me since it's supposed to be "mini"!). Similarly for the Gigabye mini-ITX which I found here:
Looks like that is 6.7 in x 5.2 in x 1.5 in?
No worries of course if you misread the size requirements, just confirming since I am new to this and may be making a dumb mistake or looking at the wrong items.
amazon . i'm also a prime member not sure if that is why i'm getting that deal
someone just told me i should be getting this one, what do you think about it?
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01KKJAJM4/ref=twister_B01IRC040S?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I'm making a build and I plan on using a GTX 1060. Due to budget and dimensional constraints, I'm thinking of this card. Can such a small package get the same performance as the standard sized cards out there? I'm hoping to run modern games at max settings.
All the reviews I've seen about it rave about it, but is it the best 1060 card out there for the price? 3GB VRAM is plenty, but I'm afraid I might be compromising something with the tiny form factor.
For reference, here's my build. It's my first ever. Let me know what you think about it!
why not i5 6400 and gtx1060 3gb? if the concern is about money, u can get a cheaper gtx1060 such as
*zotac mini *msi ocv1 *evga single fan *Gigabyte mini
450W should be sufficient if you are not planning to upgrade in recent years.
Okay, I see... in that case, could you find one of these, or another mini 1060?
They have a very low power draw and so would be the least risky with that PSU.
oh well fyi, if you do get a 1060 you will be able to hit 1080p easily! I made a few Changes and all are upgrades:
Changes
better Motherboard
Cheaper RAM
Added SSD - for Windows!
Changed the Case
WAY better monitor, ISP (better viewing and viewing angles) and its LED backlit. also 1080p not 900p.
I saw that you want 60FPS + but with the 1060 on medium you will get that. if you want to play on higher settings you will still hit 60 fps!

GTX 1060 benchmark review - note, Ashes of singularity is very demanding so 40 fps on extreme presets is pretty good! BF4 on ultra ets 97.
Zotac 1060 mini - $199
ASUS GTX 1060 - may be only 3gb but its the best 3 gb one out there for the money
