I have an earlier edition of The Anne of Green Gables Cookbook. I really like the saucy chicken, creamy vegetable soup, and the raspberry cordial. Also the poetical egg salad sandwiches and shortbread.
You might like this book I read a little while ago. It's about this modern woman who was deeply enamoured with that era of time. She wasn't in Canada. She's in the pacific northwest, but she and her husband decided to live like Victorians. They bought a period specific house and decided to, as much as they could, live the way people back then did. It helped that she was writing a book about it the whole time. But it's really quite fascinating, in terms of... just washing clothes, how arduous. Doing everything past sundown by lamplight.
