If you order the two or just 1, either way it's the way to go. They come with FEP already (so basically 2 FEP sheets included) and are 10x cheaper to replace the FEP moving forward (instead of the plastic vat/fep sheets you need to replace for the stock vat)
Resin filters - you can pour resin back into the bottles filtered.
You should buy one of these sets for later use ..https://www.amazon.de/Trichter-Edelstahlfilter-Zusammenklappbare-Silikontrichter-Anycubic/dp/B0922B5J3G
There is a specific one on the Anycubic website. It is preassembled so you don't have to cut it and do the work of setting the tension.
However there are other vats that fit the mono that you can replace the film with any FEP available. (Be sure to use a similar film thickness) This is the one I bought:
Sovol 3D Printer Resin Vat Anodized Aluminium with FEP Film & Steel Ring Preinstalled, Durable Metal Frame Resin Tank with Double Silicone Covers for ELEGOO Mars ANYCUBIC Photon 3D Printer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08CJZ711T/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_JGHNQNG7BH09XVRHTXFD?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
You can buy from anycubic direct for $70=shipping https://www.anycubic.com/collections/for-photon-series/products/lcd-screen-for-photon-mono
or you can get this one from chitu on amazon for $60 and there is a 5%off coupon right now https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09921BSCL/
At work, but it's just 1" XPS foam taped at the edges with HVAC tape in the shape of a drop-on cover, and this controller and this heater wired to it. A small slit at the bottom to exhaust the air.
Personally, I would abandon it all together though.
You can buy 2 of these for the same price (they include a pre-installed FEP), and can then replace them with literally any fep like normal moving forward instead of the silly frame thing. This also lets you use nfep next time!
Agreed you should always do your research, but for what it's worth it probably isn't far from the truth.
The amazon reviews are pretty stellar too. I myself gave it 5*. I am easily 3000+ hours into printing with mine with zero issues. (Bought November 2020)
My Mono hasn't had that problem, but my friend bought this for his Mono SE when the same thing happened to him.
if you can find the mesh size of this one that i got you can have a compaction.
https://www.amazon.es/-/pt/dp/B0828Z8R8T/ref=sr_1_7?crid=36ANN315OHYEZ
This is super slow, especially when in the end with out the weight of the resin on top.
It usually takes me several minutes do return ~80ml back to the bottle.
It does filter, thats no question about it, but i would prefer a more open mesh, even when im cleaning with water i does not drain fast enough if i have my faucet a bit over dripping faucet
I upgraded to the Sovol metal vat. Absolutely brilliant. The plastic one you get with the Mono is just asking for trouble. Also, the reason you have a leak is likely the FEP film. Which needs replacing every so often. with a Sovol you can use generic film for it. Rather than forking out twice the price for Anycubic FEP.
It’s probably worth picking some extra film up too
I had a similar problem, changed bottom exposure to 40s and started coating the bottom of the vat with PFTE lubricant, haven’t had an issue since.
I started using this lubricant: 3-IN-ONE - 120032 Multi-Purpose PTFE Lubricant, 4 OZ https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00J25JDDY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_2E25HA0XEH6YXZC7B0SH?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I put a small amount on a paper towel and GENTLY apply to the bottom of the vat, on the FEP. Let it sit for 5-10 mins then wipe any thick droplets that are still there. I also make sure there are no “suction cup” areas in the print, I found that my issue was the print sticking to the FEP and it was pulling off of the build plate.
I use this pair of filters while printing. They sit behind the vat, just on either side of the lift column. The battery in each lasts ~24hrs and I just charge them with a micro USB charger when I'm done printing. The odor is nonexistent while printing. I use standard Anycubic Grey mixed with Siraya Tenacious (80:20).
The Anycubic vat (and thus the 'easy to replace FEP') are notoriously terrible. Even if you successfully replace the FEP frame, there are stories of warping etc. I highly suggest you invest in Solov vats (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08G82HSTD?ref=nb_sb_ss_w_as-ypp-ro-model_ypp_ro_model_k0_1_5&amp=undefined&crid=1EVTN3VVHUASY&sprefix=sovol&th=1)
They're nice and sturdy, come with a FEP sheet pre-installed (~15 each for the Anycubic ones, so only 5 dollars more per vat), and you can actually replace them as you normally would (including with fancy nFEP!)
Happy it's working better! If the FEP is damaged, for SURE replace it. I suggest upgrading your vat while you're at it with the Sovol (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08G82HSTD?ref=nb_sb_ss_w_as-ypp-ro-model_ypp_ro_model_k0_1_15&amp=undefined&crid=48FLOWJJC1TN&sprefix=sovol%2Bresin%2Bvat&th=1)
These vats include some nice covers for storing resin you aren't using and the FEP isn't as miserable to replace as the Anycubic ones.
The original USB thumb drive does nothing that a new one cant. Just make sure you format it (FAT32 with MBR)
Changing the screen is cake. The tape used to secure it doesn't re-adhere very well, and is also kind of bad to begin with. Replace it with Kapton tape (https://www.amazon.com/Mil-Kapton-Tape-Polyimide-yds/dp/B006ZFNB2I). This will keep resin from getting under the lcd should something leak.
Replace the vat with a Sovol Resin Vat (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08CJZ711T/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_D7M0855PTGGVZSJPNC16?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) They come with a nice little storage solution (you can keep resin in them!) and only cost about 5 bucks more than an AnyCubic factory FEP replacement (the vat comes preloaded with a FEP) I suggest getting the two pack.
USB doesn't matter, you should be able to find the test files for it A friend has changed his screen and it was not that bad
I like the Sovol Resin vat, fit my mono perfectly https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08CJZ711T/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_D7M0855PTGGVZSJPNC16?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Try this tool. It is plastic razor blades that can help remove the resin and are a little safer to use on the screen https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HLWB0BM/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o04\_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The price is really coming down. I was surprised when I started pricing them. The printer I got was about the price of a nice regular printer. It's been a lot of fun so far.
But you seem pretty handy with electronics, why not diy one? Once you know someone with a 3d printer they can print out a lot of the specialty parts. Maybe check out thingiverse, there are a lot of diy plans on there.
