Update
The Carlinkit 4.0 arrived early Monday morning before I set off to work. The 4.0 is this product:
Carlinkit 4.0 Achieve Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto Adapter, 2 in 1 - Fit for Factory Wired CarPlay Cars from 2015 to Now, Plug & Play, No Latency, 10s Auto Connect After Set https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B1TZZ9K3/
I had it installed and working in less than 2 minutes. I also paired my wife’s phone with it. When they’re both on range of the adapter, I’m able to select which device I want to use on the G80’s screen. This is very convenient.
When it’s just me in the car, my phone connects within seconds of the car starting and the music that was playing the last time i used Apple CarPlay was used resumes playing where it left off.
My feedback on day 5 owning this product:
I personally used essentially these but from another seller for a different price, but they lasted several years despite Canadian winters and -40 degree weather: https://www.amazon.com/PQY-Stainless-Electric-Controller-Wireless/dp/B096NKJL1J/ref=mp_s_a_1_10
DPW Electric Exhaust Cutout Kit Fits 2.5-Inch Dual Exhaust, Bluetooth Supported, Control with APP or Remote https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZK1VMB6/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_SDTE75AGJZ2168SYJNHG?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 These look nice.
I got these ones - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08CB9V248/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Mainly for the size and angle, works well and fits nicely inside and can close the hatch. I have ended up forgetting my phone inside multiple times though.
Congrats! Welcome to the club! A beautiful ride indeed. Have the same model in Mauna Red.
You're gonna love Sport and Sport + mode. Even Comfort mode gives great power delivery.
You may run into issues using Android Auto or Apple Carplay though. Like others here have mentioned the connection repeatedly drops sometimes but with the right cable it should be fine. I've been using this oneAnker Cable and it works great.
Not sure about the KDM cars but I've seen other G37 guys use this https://www.amazon.com/SimpleUSBPort-Mirror-Dashcam-Adapter-10-pin/dp/B07KZSBC54/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1546719491&sr=1-2&keywords=simpleusbport
I have done it on my G37 before without using this, I pretty much cut a sewing pin in half, and then soldered the positive and negative wires to the sewing pin. Then I took out the connector from the mirror and shoved that where the positive cable went in, and the negative cable too, then hot glued it to make sure it was secure.
In my 2015 Genesis Sedan I couldn't find a fuse tap for my life, so I ran the wires (which was kinda easy) down to the fusebox along the headliner and black fabric weather seal thing, and wrapped the positive wire around the cigarette lighter fuse and then used another piece of random wire I had (use automotive wire not like me) to some random bolt in the drivers side footwell and then ran that through the fusebox behind the dash to connect my ground/negative cable. And now my dash cam switches on and off with the car. If you want the cam to run with constant power you'll need a wiring kit and then find a fuse with constant power if you want it to run when it detects motion and whatnot.
So far no electrical issues for me and I didn't have to tap into the mirror power, but I was tempted too lol.
