I was almost abducted last September. Not while working a gig job. But I thought I was safe on a well-lit street at 9pm while riding my bike. And boom. Almost abducted by three men. The way I view the world is forever changed. Never be afraid of looking like a fool by being cautious. Pepper spray, flash light to blind and confuse, taser, one of those alarm devices that lets off a huge, giant sound.
Hi, customer here.
Firstly, I love you guys. I'm housebound, and until Shipt, I was relying on Amazon BEFORE they implemented Pantry and Fresh. Times were rough. My stomach suffered big time.
Secondly, in the past two or three years, I can count on one hand how many bad experiences I've had with Shipt. Unheard of for other similar companies. I started using Doordash around the same time as Shipt.
I no longer use Doordash.
ANYHOW, just expressing my gratitude to you guys, as well as a suggestion. Get a grabber. If you have had a stint in rehab or a nursing home, you might be familiar with this. Mine from rehab is 20 years old in December. I've bought commercial ones—not as good, but still helpful.
Shipt Shopper Arm Extender - Amazon
This one is best for heavy objects. You can't lift a whole lot with them, but you can slide items closer to you. With practice, it'll become second nature. The magnet on the end is great for hooking packaging like the one pictured. No climbing—okay, maybe one foot—necessary.
Shipt safe. Shop safe.
Thanks for all you do!
At least you didn't get one of those stupid Ray Comfort ones. They are designed to look like money. They literally use people's excitement to try to trick you into accepting jesus 🥴https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tract-Million-Dollar-Bill-Comfort-2008-01-01/dp/1878859471
Honestly, I don’t stress about it much... but I also don’t work at night very often. I usually shop in a pretty safe area, so it’s not overly concerning when I get an address I’m not familiar with, but if crime were higher in my preferred zones, I’d probably only deliver to people I’d delivered to in the past.
There are some gadgets you can get, though. There’s a keychain you pull the tab on and it emits a really high-pitched scream sound. Here’s one similar: Safesound Personal Alarm, HUMUTU Safe Personal Alarm for Women, 130db Loud Safesound Alarm for Seniors Keychain with 3 LR44 Batteries Included https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GWF36GZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_jrCTFb4KZ7EE0
I bought some cheap bags like these. Except the ones I got are a little longer and more rectangular. They're open top so it doesn't look super sketchy. Anyways when I first started doing doubles a lot I took one in to the store with me. Everything from one order goes in the bag, the other in the basket. It helps keep everything straight until you get better at shopping 2 orders. Also helps keep the two separated in the car and when you take stuff to the door.
It had been raining for the last week here, it finally stopped yesterday after about 8-9 days.
I used cooler bags with zippers to protect everything from the rain. I would pack them up in the cooler bags after check out. I also made sure to pick orders with about 40 items or less so I knew I could fit them in the bags.
I bought these. They fold up very thin. I can fit about 4 in my larger cooler bag. 2 Pack Insulated Reusable Grocery... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DS6G5TM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I’ve seen people on Facebook talk about basically having a large poncho to cover the tops and bottoms of the cart if you have nothing to put them in.
Only one house didn’t have a covered porch, so I tried to stack things on top of their bottled water and put it on the edges of their doormat and use any and everything space and stacking I could to keep it mostly dry.
I think if you are sending them a picture of their delivery at their door and their groceries are clearly getting rained on then Shipt will forgive if you offered anything like jamietico said about mentioning that it’s raining so their stuff doesn’t get super wet. If you offer it and they say no and it’s clearly downpouring thats def a them issue.
I have these XL insulated bags! It doesn’t usually get super hot where I live but they’re really helpful for carrying paper bags that don’t have handles.
I have this, which is nice to hold grocery bags. I have Costco freezer bags that I use instead but it keeps things from rolling about and losing items in the back.
I use ones like this when I do doubles. They are cheap and don't last forever but you can get them in any color.
I also have a big bag that I use for large orders or orders with lots of big cold items. This isn't the exact one I have, I got mine at meijer, they have a really nice one that is $12 but it gives you an idea of how it looks. https://www.amazon.com/Sucipi-Insulated-Insulation-Transport-Collapsible/dp/B08YJKCWPR/ref=sr_1_50_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=red+green+blue+cooler+shopping+bag&qid=1620656954&s=home-garden&sr=1-50-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVk...
I got one of these for this reason, if I ever get into a situation where there’s a lot of stairs and I’d have trouble carrying everything

You might want to have someone assemble it for you. The wheels were an absolute pain to get right.
I’ll update you on how I like it once I use it :)
I used to be part of a group in my area that was buying insulated bags in bulk from a manufacturer. Recently I started using some insulated bags on Amazon. I prefer the Amazon bags. They're three times what I was paying with the bulk group, but they're so much better made. They last me a heck of a lot longer too.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JFOQ10A
The Shipt official bags are a good quality, but I prefer not having a big Shipt logo on the bag.
I use these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GZXXMM6. Large, keeps everything at temperature and is visible on parking lots and streets at night. Handy backpack straps help me carry to the door. Also a deal on Amazon if you want to buy two. Good luck!
I couldn't do this job without a lanyard. This is a great option and it's universal, so it should work with most phones.

I have a clear case, so it's not the most attractive option, but when I'm not working it's easy to just pop it out.

You should open a free notion account. I have a few and it’s great. I created a wiki on one of the accounts and it’s loaded with shareable things like your spreadsheet, files, data bases etc. the other one is just to help keep me organized. You should check it out. https://www.notion.so
I don't have room for a cart, but the folding hand truck is a lifesaver several times a week. Fits right behind my seat. I first tried a $45, but small wheels and flimsy. This $70 one is perfect for up to 4 cases of water at a time. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07X3BDRMW?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Try these. Remember it’s fully tax deductible as part of the cost of doing business. Note; there are cheaper bags online but these are specifically reusable and biodegradable. They’re legal to use in NJ, and any customers that might be annoyed about you delivering in plastic bags would let it go seeing they’re biodegradable. I assume it’s the opposite though; you having bags and other shoppers not having bags makes you the one I’d want to make preferred.
I just got this one, and I love it.

I Like these:
https://www.amazon.com/Flow-month-Charger-Cup-Automatic-Universal-Adjustable/dp/B07QT9H89S/
Fast charging, wireless (if your phone is capable), and it auto opens and closes. I also like that it doesn't block the air vents, doesn't need to be glued on your dashboard but still keeps the phone up and elevated for safer driving.
If you don't have bluetooth in your car, an FM transmitter like this: https://www.amazon.com/Syncwire-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Wireless-Hands-Free/dp/B0948ZFQFR/
You basically search for empty FM channels in your area via google, set the device to broadcast to that channel, tune to that channel on your stereo, then your audio/navigation will be played through your car speakers.
A pocket pen light, a sharpie, some insulated thermal bags (sams club and walmart have big ones for like $5 in the camping section, ozark trail is the brand I think), and of course a mile tracking app like gridwise, everlance, worksolo, etc
It depends on the service in your store. Some stores are impossible to send images, but some not. However, you can try this: https://imgbb.com/ when you're trying to send images. As long you have good wifi, you're good to do. Basically, it's gonna upload the images to that website, and you can copy and paste the link after you upload it . I've done many times w my members when shopping at a connection area.

I got it during prime day for 175 and I've seen it go on sale time to time
No worries. This was actually my second cart. I left the old one in an Amazon warehouse. There’s a bigger version of the one I showed you here. It can be used as a flat bed in addition to a hand truck. This is what I should have gotten but opted to get the same one. Silly me
When I have a double, the smaller order goes in the following: the upper basket, I hang a cooler bag from the cup holders on the push bar (meijer carts are awesome for this), and then put larger items on the back section lower rack. The larger order fills up the main basket, and bigger front section of the lower rack. I have larger cooler bag that just sits in the front part of the main basket.
I also have two trunk dividers that I use to keep orders separate in my car and it's incredibly helpful to keep things organized and efficient. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DIMTWCS/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
And finally I use a simple cart clip (I've tried several expensive ones with articulating arms and whatnot, and I've found the cheapest option is by far the best). Having the phone attached to the cart basically fees up both hands and makes scanning items SO much easier and quicker. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074P1B3BB/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If you ever deal with stairs, you may want to reconsider the idea of the wagon altogether, or consider something like a stair climbing cart.
$60 for a cart is also a lot of money. $5 worth of Ikea bags may provide the utility you need.
A subscription to Microsoft 365 personal is $41.16 on Amazon. That works out to $3.43 a month.
Yes, I bought this when it was 100 dollars. Best investment ive ever made. It can carry over 100lbs and condenses down very very small. You can write it off at the end of the year.

I got this after having to cancel an order because I locked my keys in my car: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08CS1WZW1?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share I clip it to my belt loop. Automatically retracts when I take my key from the ignition, and easy access to the fob to unlock the doors and open the trunk. It's been a lifesaver.
Been using these and a cooler bag from my grocery store: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DS6G5TM?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details
I also have a Yeti-type cooler (store brand) in my car, and a black square crate to put things that I want to protect like soft or crushable items.
I need to get a cart now.
Portable charger! Mine stays in my pocket or purse at all times and I charge it as soon as I get home and overnight. This is what I have, under $25.00 Lifesaver! portable charger
we have one similar to this! you can either get a water delivery service but we have a water store really close to our house so we fill up two 5 gallon jugs at a time. serious live changer.
for people who have decent tap water could just get a brita but our water is gross lol

I find it to be super convenient because I can look at it and then just drop it. I leave my cart at the end of the aisle while I ship the aisle, so I don't want to leave my phone on the cart.
I love mine! It easily unclips from the phone and you can barely see the little tab sticking out https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086KZ22K4?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I clip my car key to it so I can easily unlock my trunk while walking up to it.

I don’t but since amazon implanted their new price gouging policy , you can still find some relatively cheap.
Also , I was literally telling my parents about how on a Wednesday, the stores were fine. Thursday morning they’re packed and the stock cleared out because ONE death in the county was reported. ONE. Now barely 2-3 weeks later we have hundreds. It’s explosive. And it’s scary.
Pro tip: target prepaid orders are the easiest. Make friends with your target employees. They’ll let you skip the line or go to guest services for a quicker check out.
Nope! They are a pound or two each. Don’t even really notice the weight. I use these ones, which fit along the bottom of the Shipt bags pretty well. I have them inside overlapping large zip lock bags taped together which keeps them clean and cuts down on condensation.
