If you lose them or whatever you can buy them at skimo.com. I've bought them from Amazon too.
Even stored on the no-stick strips, I had a bad experience with a pair of skins having their glue go to goo over a hot summer and stick anyway, then come apart. So now I store all of them in the vegetable crisper in my refrigerator.
Same.
I use a slightly different version, but basically just a soft water bladder.
https://www.amazon.com/Platypus-Soft-Bottle-Push-Pull-1-Liter/dp/B00A9A2LHQ
On extra cold days I'll put a gatorade type mix in it - since the salt makes it harder to freeze. Otherwise - a half liter of water in my jacket pocket is very nice to have.
I fill one of these flat water bottles and keep it in my interior jacket pocket. It's only 23 ounces but it works for me.
I bought some of this last year when I tore the shit out of my arc'teryx bibs. It's done a great job of sealing them up.
So I bought these locally in the spring of 2021 - had the darndest time trying to find them anywhere online (tag says season 2019). Ended up Googling the style number and these are them: https://www.amazon.com/Spyder-193020-Echo-GTX-Pants/dp/B07YBCTBK2 .
I was having the hardest time trying to find a pair of ski pants that fit - a lot of manufacturers' sizes don't go down far enough. Managed to find these on sale, took them immediately because they fit. They are snug, but flattering, warm, and maybe just a teeny bit long for me, but it works fine when I'm on the skis. ....There is interesting black "power band" type stuff (?) at the top of the waist - which makes them quite high rise, so they'd work great if you like to wear shorter jackets (I don't). I could take it or leave it, TBH. They keep my legs at the perfect temperature - never too cold nor too hot, though just for the sake of it, I wish they had a zipper @ the knee. I don't know if their entire line runs snug like these do or if it's just the insulated pants, but I cannot gain 2 pounds or they wouldn't fit - which can't happen cuz they're the only pants I have right now, LOL.
Oh - and I have the fluorescent orange ones - I love the color! Not sure if Spyder is using it with their latest stuff.
The Alti i'm looking at is this one. I think they're an older design but the old ones had a good reivew.
I have found that my current Gordini Fall Lines cover me from -20 to 50 degrees decently well with a handwarmer, I think youth does me favor in that regard.
I think the Alti check every box I have, but I don't want to pass up a $110 deal on the Crew gloves since they have great reviews even at their $150 price. And at the same time I don't know what makes the Crew better than the Glissade, BD even rates them for the same temperature range.
I used a band saw to cut the lower half and a dremel to shape the curves, used neodymium magnets and metal to plastic epoxy
Not sure about fogging, but you can look at the link to the upper half to judge how good the anti fog technology is. If fog is a problem I'll cut a vent hole and make it look like a mouth
That depends on the bag. The Deuter pictured in that post has webbing with only a single fold in the stitching at the ends. That's how the majority of backpacks are and you can usually slide the buckles off the webbing with a little effort. The only pack I have that doesn't do this is a BCA Float backpack where the webbing ends are folded over on themselves twice. I cannot slide the buckles off of those, so instead I used these split tri-glides that you can install without removing the buckle.
I normally don't ski with a pack, but for long days, especially at altitude I will use a CamelBak HydroBak: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08QVJ1LH6
Wear it under my shell to give a little extra protection from the cold. I use an insulated hose rather than the one it comes with to avoid freezing.
Good:
Bad:
Do any onesies actually fully zip off the top? I noticed some also have suspender straps.
This is the one I ordered:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08342BD5N/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_QPWJ58GNBJ8R36YWZZSM
I think I need to order a small. But do you have any recommendations?
You mean like a face shield, like that what a motorcycle helmet has?
This is what I think of when I hear "visor" - but then, I'm old, so....
Bought Unigear from Amazon, padded and has a separate pouch for ski poles, there is another inner pocket, cannot be closed and an outer pocket with zipper.
With Delta Airlines, if the bag is not padded they will ask you to sign a waiver, protecting them from damage liability. Not sure of other airlines but get padded if you are going to fly with skis, just to be safe. https://www.amazon.com/Unigear-SKI-MOGUL-Protection-Water-Resistant-Transport/dp/B0998LP84B/
Price has gone up on these. There are cheaper ones but get padded.
I was worried too as I had just upgraded before my last trip. I bought this but never ended up using it. It’s worth the peace of mind to at least bring it and see the situation. Enjoy the trip!
My favorite items are ...
- Jacket: Montec Doom (I sized down) because there are tons of pockets in all the right places and it's just insulated enough that I can use as is or add a mid layer if it's colder. Totally waterproof, wrist gaiters, high neck that can zip down on both sides if I want more air.
- Midlayer: Patagonia R1 is perfection
- Baselayer: Merino 1/4 zip. Mine is REI and it's held up well. Just got the Athleta Flurry Balaclava top (not merino) and the balaclava is versatile. Can use the hood/face as one or just the face part if you don't want the coverage from the hood. Has ponytail or braid openings if your hair is long.
- Helmet and Goggles: Both Smith. I/O mag for the goggles, two lenses and easy to change out, haven't had major fogging issues with them either.
- Socks: Smartwool ski
- Bag: this one from Amazon has been perfect for me. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075N5LJ67/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Fwiw I have an edition of this Athalon boot bag (Athalon Everything Boot Bag/Backpack - Ski - Snowboard https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0028DORQK) and I’ve been pretty pleased with it!
It’s tough to fit in the overhead (but not impossible, if you don’t have it stuffed to the brim) and fits basically everything I need for a 5 day trip
I don’t care what anyone tells you, some peoples feet just run cold. Which is me. I’m $1300 into my boots at one of the best boot fitters in SLC. My feet are always cold. I bought these and wear them always. It’s insane how much of a difference they make they’re amazing. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010SYTYCM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_ZFK0YM7TQZ56SYJ1TAG1
Hey! I also have Reynauds, although sounds like not as bad as you. To make it worse, I do some pond hockey tournaments in the winter as well.
I've tried all kinds of gloves, and so far my favorites have been these: https://smile.amazon.com/RefrigiWear-Fleece-Lined-Insulated-Leather/dp/B00N2YCNXI/
They don't break the bank and are plenty warm. If it's especially cold, I toss a couple hand warmers in there and usually my hands are too hot if anything.
Is this what you’re looking for? Oakley Airbrake XL Prism Lense
While you’re at it, grab a wrist band to let your gloves off. Hearts makes a nice pair for $7: https://www.amazon.com/Hestra-Handcuffs-Black-Red-8-11/dp/B00GB03528/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=DNDXQ7Z8EE48&
Stio makes some 3/4 length knickers that look really nice looking ones.
My $15 I need this in 2 days version is buying the cheapest 100% polyester sweat pants from Amazon and cutting the bottom of the legs off. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M59AAYU/
Lito Tejada Flores has a terrible video instructional series. His takes on the "new shaped" skis 25 years ago are horrifically wrong, BUT he wrote a most excellent book called Soft Skiing; the Secrets of Effortless Low-Impact Skiing for Older Skiers.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/0941283224/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_PW8181QQ6FRFZ451ZS3V
This idea of effortless turning on all terrain is a real phenomena. It is possible to ski without using the leg muscles to turn the ski instead, you let the ski turn the foot. This saves all your energy to put into good body position and movement.
I believe every aging skier needs to forget about forcing the skis around and begin letting the skis do all the work. Way too many friends quit somewhere between 40 & 60 because their knees hurt or they're not strong enough or, or or whatever other excuse to stop.
Get in touch with Skiessentials.com, they keep a pretty good stock and can recommend a ski if they're out of the Navigator. I prefer the Elan Ripstick, they're ridiculously easy, dunno how well they rail on east coast hardpack.

Checkout my response on how I carry a liter of water with no pack. If you decide to go with a bladder Camelbak's Bootlegger is designed to be worn under a jacket. It offers minimal storage but solves your water problem.
Athalon Everything Boot Bag/Backpack
I’ve had it for a few years and it’s still killing it. I fit my boots, helmet, all my layers, and other crap in there with room to spare.
Thanks, is that this? https://www.amazon.com/Athletico-Padded-Ski-Bag-Combo/dp/B074F945NM?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1
Would I need to put extra padding in there for air travel or is the padding that it comes with good enough?
I use one of these:

Find the cheapest chinese bala on amazon that gets decent reviews and order 3 of them and change them during the day. I like the ones that are cut to fit the nose a little bit.
The only other way is dry it out on your car defroster. Or suck the water out of it. Wash it before you wear it. In fact just wash it every day. I handwash mine daily with castile soap. Dr Bronners or trader joes works good.
Thin balas don't provide enough COVID protection by themselves. You need either a ticker material or a double layer or a mask or something. I wear a bala and a neck gator so it's two layers. It kind of sucks to have to wear it all the time but we're thankful just to be skiing so...
I wear this one when it's coldish; it's relatively thick, but still pretty thin, and fits comfortably under a helmet NP.
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PQ2AXMC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I have a thinner one but I don't care for it as much so I won't recommend it.
I have a Giro Ledge with MIPS https://www.sunandski.com/p/34670056070002015/giro-men-s-ledge-mips-snow-helmet?vpc=34670056070002015-079609004&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI3Yjl4vbg7gIVE8GGCh0ujw3BEAQYAiABEgKZevD_BwE . I think it is like the best value helmet with MIPS. You can get one for under $100 at the link above. Then I got Alta Wireless Bluetooth drop in speakers. Alta Wireless Bluetooth Helmet Drop in Headphones- HD Speakers Compatible with Any Audio Ready Ski/Snowboard Helmet - 3 Button Glove Friendly Controls with Microphone for Hands Free Calls. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H7X814B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_B2CQF2Z01QACBQT4G5RS the whole set up is under $200

I got the Wildhorn boot bag last season...so far I like. Says its the US ski team supplier...not sure if that means or matters. to anything For the price I like it...we will see about durability.

Love this bag! You can fit a ton of gear around your skis, which also helps protect skis during unloading from the plane.
