Hello! I have had three axolotl for four to five months now and did plenty of research before getting them.
Use real living plants not fake plants, in sand for substrate or attached to wood.
Don't keep the pleco with them.
You can check for nitrates, nitrites and ammonia with a water test kit which you can order from Amazon:
API Aquarium Water Quality Test 5 in 1 Test Strips 4 Strips https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B007GCEAX8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_kEJOyb74HPJ61
Earthworms are the best food for them and can be found everywhere under the ground if you dig with a small trowel.
I hope this helps. If not feel free to ask more in-depth questions.
Best way to handle this is to let it ride. If you really want to get it kick started, get a breeding partition and 1 or 2 feeder/comet goldfish.
As long as your filters are pushing enough water, in a week or two it will be clear. You can add tiny amounts of Stability in. I used to get this a lot, had one of those stupid dual element amazon filters and it clogged all the time. Recently switched to a standard sponge filter from a good company and I have not had an issue again since. Pushed tons of water with a Tera 100 6w air pump.
This stuff is awesome. Very fine sand. Feels like fine sugar.
Just like any substrate, make sure to wash it really good before you lay it down.
I would recommend adding filter material to your HOB.

This is the one I used and it cleared up the sand dust in two days.
There are lots of information on cycling tanks. Check out https://rockymountainaxolotls.com/tank-cycling is the website I go through.
This is what is use to cook the tank down. Sold by Amazon there is a heating and cooling cord that you set a temperature and it stays in between the two. It’s great! temperature controller $34.00
This. Bloodworms are not a staple food for Axos. Not only that but 75% of the bloodworms I feed mine get tossed around the tank.
Gets some salmon pellets and earthworms (night crawlers). Alternate. Much easier to clean.
Dechlorinator gets rid of chlorine.
I recommend seachem prime (a brand of dechlorinator).
Here is a link to it on amazon: LINK
Yes! If the tank gets to even 70 degrees that’s a problem. They like it about 60-65 ish, but will tolerate 68 I am sure. Sometimes it is hard to maintain that temp so there are fans you can put on top of your tank that help cool it down (low cost option), or you can get a chiller (higher cost option).

This sponge filter has treated me well. My only complaint is the sponge material could stand to be a bit more coarse
I've had good results with this sponge filter operation is as quiet as your air pump. Cleaning is easy, my only dislike is the suction cups aren't great but that can be easily remedied with a simple hook
I usually get worms from Walmart. They have red worms and nightcrawlers. The reds are a lot smaller than the crawlers so I'd use those when he was smaller. But sometimes he'd refuse them so I'd swap to blood worms for a while. They also sell a pellet food that's salmon I believe on Amazon. I hear they like it but I'm sure it varies from axolotl to axolotl.

Just an example
First question, have you properly cycled the tank? I'm also unsure what you mean by resetting the tank.
If no, you have to look up how to cycle the tank and keep your axolotl in a separate area and do daily water changes till its cycled.
If yes, check your tanks filter and give it a good clean but ensure you leave the filter mostly still full of good bacteria (give it a shake but don't squeeze the sponge or filter). My own filter caused cloudiness in my tank for a bit, I gave it a good clean and it turned out there was a chunk of gunk in it. After that its been fine.
A product that works well is nutrafin Cycle. I put some in every week when I clean the tanks and it keeps the good bacteria levels in the tank up and keeps their water nice and clean. you can buy it on amazon here https://www.amazon.com/Nutrafin-Biological-Filter-Supplement-16-9-Ounce/dp/B0026C8YMQ or get it and other similar products at a pet store.
Another thing that helps is getting some aquarium sand (NOT GRAVEL) as it gives the bacteria that helps keep your tank clean a proper place to rest on other than just the filter. If you decide to get some just make sure that you look up how to rinse it so that the dust doesn't get in the water.
I hope that helps!
Here is an amazon link for the large version of the hide I have! The one in the picture is the medium size so maybe this would work? My axie isnt full grown so it's easier to find hides for him!

Buy some pipette like this https://www.amazon.com/Teenitor-Disposable-Pipettes-Transfer-Essential/dp/B071JXVGNK/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1532573480&sr=8-1-spons&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=pipette&psc=1
Let the blood work unfreeze in a small glass of water and use the pipette to feed him. You can also pick him up and put it in a small container with aquarium water and feed it there.
Edit : You should buy him a friend also. Axolotl are very social <3 but it gotta be about the same size!
