I bought this one, well I actually 2. Loved it! My guy never climbed it. Now we use it to keep the new dogs from bolting out the door.
Biggest disposable swim diaper you can find with splashabout jammers over it. The splashabout suit runs up to kids sizes and has a neoprene waist and cuffs to hold any poop in. Here’s a link to some toddler sized ones: Splash About Toddler Splash Jammers https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071942WK8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_5NQJMPA16JT7244HJNW2?psc=1
We had a City Mini that my son basically refused after a year old. We went to a wagon, and he was much happier. I think he wanted to be able to look around more.
Just wanted to share shoes and rainboots recommendations for extra wide chunky feet:
Shoes: ikiki https://www.amazon.com/ikiki-Squeaky-Toddlers-Adjustable-Squeaker/dp/B00UG8ZH2C
Rainboots: OutdoorMaster https://www.amazon.com/OutdoorMaster-Toddler-Boots-Lightweight-Clean/dp/B08HH344GF
Seriously have tried so many shoes and nothing else seems to work!
16 mo boy, 32 lb, wearing size 6 shoes
I’m pretty sure carters makes them at least up to 5T and I’ve seen old navy have them up to 6T for sure and maybe even 7T. I also think carters has ‘big kid’ footie pjs too on their site and elsewhere. A quick search for 7T fleece footed pjs gave me this link. On Amazon up to size 8 kids or even bigger!
Do yourself a favor and buy this combination and insert a baby monitor in the slumber pod pocket. It’s perfect for tall toddlers and worked like a dream for mine while on vacation.

There’s some inflatable ones that stand alone or also fit in a normal bath tub that are easy to blow up and spacious enough for older toddlers.
We have this pineapple baby pool for our little guy who is 32" tall. We turn the shade whichever way we need it. All he really does is splash around a little bit so we honestly don't need a ton of space or really deep water.
Something like this car might work. It won't offer extra sitting support, but there's also no weight limit.
Maybe you’ve already looked at it but we got the Aden and Anais chair that can be a bouncer, rocker, and eventual chair. It’s says newborn to 2year old. It does come with a newborn insert though so you might not like it, but it’s easy to take out.
Door knob covers, and this thing:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ESGBHG8
Seriously, this deadbolt cover was so easy to install, has held up extremely well, and has stopped my 2 year old from being able to open the front door.
When my baby outgrew the bassinet I got a mini crib for our bedroom. We have this one. It takes about as much space as our bassinet, and is on wheels. I did buy a different mattress to go with it because it comes with more of a pad than a mattress. We cosleep at night, but still use it for some naps and it's very sturdy and safe.
After 2-2.5 I don’t think you need gates anymore except at the top of the stairs in case of night wakings. We have one from RegaloRegalo that we’re very happy with. The mechanism takes quite a bit of strength and precision that even a tall/strong toddler/preschooler wouldn’t be able to do it. With how it’s mounted my son can’t yet rest his chin on the top and he’s 41” and just turned 3.
He climbs in and out of his Ikea crib with no issues and has been able to since about 2.5. Won’t let us take the side off so 🤷♀️. A lot of baby proofing comes down to how adventurous and rule abiding your kid is.
My son had baseball feet from the beginning. We got these gifted to use at the shower and they were perfect!

He stills wears them now at almost 2yo.
When I was looking last summer, this was the tallest play kitchen I could find that had good ratings and reviews. It has lots of doors and drawers, so my son has had fun putting things away and moving them around. Also, it's cute how the stove makes a sizzling sound when you put the pan on it, and a boiling sound for the pot. Only downside is that the microwave is too small.
I used this one: https://www.amazon.com/Baby-Hip-Seat-Carrier-Adjustable/dp/B07G3DJQ3K

It has one buckle and it's really wide, you clip it before you pick up the kid, or you could have someone else clip it for you. You can put the clip anywhere (as in, you can put it right on the front of your body where it's easy to reach, it doesn't have to be around back or something). It also has a handy pocket that can hold your phone, or a snack, or whatever.
I love the Kamik boots (here). So easy to get my kid’s feet in because it opens up a lot once you open the Velcro strap, and easy to secure as well. It’s a bit pricey (usually in the $40s or so), but fits better and is easier as a parent to put on/take off than cheaper alternative I tried, so I think it’s worth it!
I didn’t get the nicer but pricier ones like Tripp Trapp because of sticker shock and procrastination, but I’ve found that a booster seat with a detachable tray worked out great for us. If the tray works, great. If it is too tight (like our ended up being after a month or so, I just took it off and let my kid use the table itself instead.
I got a Fisher Price booster seat, it was pretty inexpensive. I had picked this particular one because at the time we thought we might soon resume traveling to see family or go to restaurants (it was before Delta, sigh). Link to the one we got is here.
Thanks for all the suggestions!! I ended up ordering this from Amazon: MAYFAIR NextStep2 Toilet Seat with Built-In Potty Training Seat, Slow-Close
It’s been awesome! I love that it is integrated into the regular seat, doesn’t take up space and we don’t have to grab it from somewhere and set it up/put it away every time. It’s flat so it works for big booties!
I highly recommend these! My average sized 4 year old uses it, with room to spare. I got it because she would NOT use adult toilets because she felt unstable as her feet didn't touch the floor, where this is a lot more stable. It's not a big deal to take on and off if you only have one bathroom too.
My friend also uses one in her dayhome, and all of her kids (2-4 years old) use it, and you know if someone who runs a daycare or dayhome like it, it's good.
Hands down the best seat I've bought! I don't have this brand as I cannot find mine anymore on Amazon.
Todeco Family Toilet Seat, Practical and Convenient, Smooth and Strong Plastic Material, Soft Close Technology, Separate Toilet Rings for Kids, Adults https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07GVF7JY7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apan_glt_i_9KB9GVM0REHZ7X5SAJBF?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
We have this Peg Perrigo dupe that fits my 41”/38 lb 2 year old with room. It is defiantly sized for a toddler and not a baby. The tray is higher and larger than most and the seat deeper/higher. His 32”/25 lb sister is still too small to comfortably sit in it for eating. She sits too far from the tray and it’s a bit too high still.
Guidecraft Step Up Kitchen Helper - White: Adjustable Height, Wooden Cooking Step Stool With Safety Rails For Little Kids - Toddler Learning Furniture https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00D5FH1V8/ref=cm_sw_r_apanp_iCUVAVHBjjmns
We have this one. Our toddler is 2.75, 40lbs and tbh I'm not positive how tall. But 90th percentile or higher for sure.
I liked this one because it boasts being able to fit two toddlers on it, and honestly it's true. Two of them can squeeze in up there. Warning, it is huge. If you don't have a big house/kitchen I don't recommend it.
Here are the ones I bought! I’m really pleased with them, the foam is nice and sturdy and they are easy to wipe down to sanitize. I think we’ll get many years of play out of them!
A little late to the game, but we got a retractable mesh baby gate. It's not climbable. Our son is 2.5 and still can't get past it, not for a lack of trying.
Heres a link to something similar. Not the exact model we have, but you'll get the idea.
I just got one of these bunting suits for my 30lb 5 month old. The feet and hands flip over which makes it shorter. I got the 12-18 month size and it actually fits pretty well.
The one we have is discontinued. But I saw something I may have tried when he was that small, heck I thought I may have to build him one!

Our LO outgrew the angel bath right around the 4-5 month mark. We found this inflatable tub and it worked great:
Mommy's Helper Inflatable Bath Tub Froggie Collection, White/Green, 6-24 Months Inflatable baby bathtub
Our LO is 10 months now, 33” and 28 lbs, but has been sitting up well so we moved to the big boy bathtub about 6 weeks ago and he loves it. The inflatable tub was great for that in-between stage and is perfect for travel.
We have the Stokke tub for our baby - same age/size. I love that it folds and it fits him Stokke Flexi Bath Bundle, White - Foldable Baby Bathtub + Newborn Support - Durable & Easy to Store - Convenient to Use at Home or Traveling - Best for Newborns & Babies Up to 48 Months https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KQRS3H9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_46GEDX94Y688VFN0B2XY?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Yes, I never bought my LO a bouncer/exersaucer because by the time she was the appropriate age she was beyond the weight limit. She’s 9 months now and it makes me sad she never got one because she loooves to bounce.
OP you could look for some of the doorway jumpers? They tend to have a slightly higher weight limit. OUTING MAN Doorway Jumper Swing Bumper Jumper Exerciser Set with Door Clamp Adjustable Strap for Toddler Infant 6-24 Months https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08X4BPZT5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_KSW1AE64YPW9EMNQ89JN this one is for up to 33lbs. I’ve seen some up to 38.
We use this and have since about 22 months. It might be a little bit of a pain to check on an airplane but is great for car trips and my son loves it! We call it “big kid bed.” Milliard Portable Toddler Travel Nap Mat, Folding Soft Foam Mat with Bumpers https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079T5LCVJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_VA5MAR4VRM048K4N00WN
We had similar issues as @Digimonsterr My LO very quickly grew out one piece PJs. We use the Halo sleepers in the summer & this type of sleeper in the winter.
INFANS 3 in 1 Baby High Chair, Convertible Toddler Table Chair Set, Rocking Chair, Multi-Function Seat with Lockable Universal Wheels, Adjustable Seat Back, Removable Trays (Grey) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TYZSNSC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_QWCJYGS5N6EGC319BDGJ
We use this one and it’s been great. My boy is in 99th percentile and he just turned one recently and is now using it as a chair and desk to eat off of. Very roomy as well with an adjustable recliner for the back if your baby needs more belly room.
Amazon has 2 boxes of size 7 pampers right now if you get to this fast enough. I’ve managed to keep getting ours from amazon but it’s really touch and go as to whether they are in stock. We had to move to the smaller boxes.
Pampers Pampers Cruisers Diapers Size 7 44 Count , 44 Count https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0864FTT8X/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_FEFWEbC67TSQM
I saw you bought a walker, but if your wife is interested there are also straps that may help Mom (up to 44lbs) might be an alternative.
I have 2 big boys (11lbs5oz and 10lbs4oz respectively), ages 3 and almost 4 months.
They both slept in a bassinet for about 3 months and transitioned to a pack n play on the bassinet setting. When my oldest started to roll, I moved the bassinet mattress down to the base.
Bouncers and low swings are a better option than anything tall. They have a larger range when it comes to weight and size limits, and when you look over and see a leg hanging out...it's not quite as scary. I have this and a bouncer I got for $5 at a garage sale.
Someone suggested the Mei Tai carrier to me for big babies. It's been a lot more comfortable than the carriers with clasps.
The carseat we have is a Graco click connect with a compatible stroller. Whenever possible, we bring the stroller and lock the carseat into it. My oldest outgrew the bucket seat at around 9 months and has been in a convertible seat since. There are a lot of good convertible seats that grow with even a big kid. I have the Graco MySize65 - I'd get the 4Ever if it wasn't too big for my Honda Fit.
If all else fails, a comfortable floor mat in a safe place works great. I bought a big shaggy fleece rug. My baby loves it because he can see me and everything going on. When he gets more mobile, I can put a baby gate around it.
Yes it’s okay to wear over your scar - my hospital provided me one right after surgery. It’s a big, wide elastic strap that goes around your waist.
This is the foldable travel potty seat we bought for my older son, who still occasionally uses it now (as an actual four year old) with no trouble. Very easy to carry in the younger one's diaper bag.
Do the straps have padded strap covers? Mine came with them, and they help prevent chafing. It’s the safe alternative to a blanket.
I knew seat height wasn't an issue, just the back or sides of the potty + weight of kiddo. I was shown this one, and bought it.
Safety 1st Gotta Go Now Folding Travel Potty and Trainer, Blue/White https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00ATWYFIM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_q.8YAb09SWNF8
It's awesome that I can bring it while on the go to keep training consistent. Then use it On the toilet for his little butt
Oh, man. I had some major flashbacks when reading your post. Our little guy was a normal 8 lbs when born but ate seemingly constantly and was quickly in the 98th percentile on weight and height.
BUT the stress of bottle feeding and/or breast feeding those first months nearly killed me. I also couldn't produce enough milk, so supplemented with formula. I kept trying to get my supply up by pumping, so my day consisted of: breast feeding, bottle feeding, pumping, washing equipment, start over immediately.
At 4 months, at the encouragement of both my doctor and my husband, I gave up on the breast feeding/pumping. It saved my sanity. I really wish I could have at least tried to provide breast milk for longer, but I was producing all day half the amount he drank first thing in the morning. It was exhausting.
One of the things we found really helped was pre-mixing all the formula for a day in a pitcher (we used this one) and keeping it ready to go in the fridge. It saved us from having to try to quickly make a bottle with a baby screaming at us and it significantly reduced the bubbles/air in the bottle. We used a dishwasher to clean it and that thing made our lives so much easier.
Hang in there! In my experience, it gets better as he gets older.
