They sell them at most gardening stores from what I've seen. They are peat seed starting pods. You can get them on amazon here. seed starting pods

I cut it close to the ground. I had about 2 inches of “stem” on the original plant below any of the green leaves. So what I was left with was a two inch stem and the healthy top of the plant. From that I cut about an inch of the remaining stem bottom. So what I planted was one inch of bare stem in the soil, making the green top look “normal” in the new planting. I did nothing special with the top other than stick it in a pot. Be careful on the watering (not much - just get it damp). You will rot it if you fuss with it. Let it do it’s thing.
