There are a number of other IRC clients out there that do a good job:

• Hexchat - A fork of X-Chat, which is defunct. Hexchat is available on Windows, Linux, and OS X.
• Irssi - My preferred client, Irssi is a text-based client that runs in a Linux terminal.
• AndChat - IRC on Android

Those are all clients I use, and they're all good.
