I use the Reddit web page as a web app.
Either use Applicationize: https://applicationize.me/now or right click the three dots in Chrome's upper right corner, Select "More tools", then select "Create Shortcut" (Be sure to click the "Open as a window" box).
VSCode is installed (as would be Atom and Hyper) but I use those others and many more as desktop "PWA"s (via Chrome's add-to-desktop). If you use Windows or Linux they are pretty much indistinguishable from installed apps and startup faster than Electron instances.
On Mac OS I guess Chrome hasn't figured out how to integrate with the dock like it does with the Win/Linux taskbar or to run it in a plain window. If I needed to use a Mac more often I'd probably set them up with Applicationize.
You could try making it a separate app using: https://applicationize.me/
I really like this method because it sandboxes the app unlike in the shelf. I can create gmail or other google apps for my second account and launch them without having to switch between accounts.
You have to jump through some hoops for it but you can get this working on MacOS too.
I used Applicationize to get myself a crx file for the Messages PWA, then extracted the code from it via CRX Extractor and installed it via dev mode as a chrome extension.
Apple really needs to jump on the PWA bandwagon, but until they do this works pretty well!
This feature is not available on the Mac version of Chrome, but you can create an "app" using Applicationize.
That's what I'm using for a standalone PocketCasts app on Mac and it works great.
I'm using the Web App, Applicationze.me to convert Web Apps to Desktop Apps (creates self-contained Chrome Extension). You can choose which icon you'd like to use.
Install Docker, run the following:
docker run --detach \ --name thelounge \ --publish 9100:9000 \ --volume ~/.config/thelounge:/home/lounge/data \ --restart always \ -u "$(id -u $USER):$(id -g $USER)" \ thelounge/lounge:latest
Go to https://applicationize.me/ and create an app to http://localhost:9100
Enjoy the best Linux client you'll find.
I get notifications, and Slack lets me customize those settings. No tray icon, but I have the Slack icon in my taskbar. If you're on a Mac you can't do Chrome's add-to-desktop thing, but maybe applicationize.me would work.
I'm not at home, can't check now, but did you try to use random values for the ID (in this URL for the xxx) to see if any of your filters open?
When I was a Mac user I still used Todoist Web, because it was faster, you could scale the zoom and have multiple instances ;) Maybe you give it a try :)
With Google Chrome browser you can create web apps, which are basically single tabs without all the browser stuff, just the content. It loads fast, works independently, looks and feels nice :D
I don't know if it still works like that on Mac (on Windows it does, so it should do it there to). Google how to create such shortcuts, maybe a tutorial or even better a tool
