1) On the Aqua Mail forum someone reported ad/analytics traffic seen by Adguard. Dev (the original, who is still onboard) then released a new version with a setting to opt-out of the analytics. The one who reported this then approved the new release.
2) The new releases with the Settings > Send usage statistics
(on the bottom) has been since pushed to Play.
I don't like how this setting seemed to silently creep into the app without it being even mentioned in the change logs and the opt-out possiblity came only after the thread(s) on the forum. Makes me think the original dev doesn't anymore have full control of the code.
Heres a forum there talking about exactly this, below. Come to think of it I've never come across a mobile client that offers oldest-first sort order.
I'm using AquaMail Pro - great client, has a lot of possibilities to customise which you basically do once and then let it do its job: https://www.aqua-mail.com/download/
Yes, the feature you're looking for is push, AquaMail Pro provides that, so if you set the client up like you want you get notified the instant a new email has been sent to you, without you having to start the app first.
K-9 Mail is similarly good, I used to use that too for a while, but needed better customisations.
SOLUSfiddler
You can still use the Free version. Monthly/Yearly subscription unlocks all features such as the ability to manage multiple accounts, S/MIME end-to-end encryption, Push for Exchange, Delete Folders, and more.

No, unfortunately this is not true. Mobisystems told that Facebook tracking is disabled in pro version now. But in latest version it's still active. See AquaMail forum:

Other tracking Crashlytics is still active, however.
My findings (the problem version never was released to anyone through the play store, and Aqua Mail only ever connects to your mail servers once you opt out of analytics in the Pro version)

Comment from developer
>Aqua Mail needs analytics and we have given the option to users to opt-out. This is very standard and is very plain and straight forward. Nothing is being "slipped-in" as it would be first of all illegal.

AquaMail has a privacy policy link which goes to a page which gives a basic outline of their ethos, but the policy link itself is a 404 page when you click for the actual information. They are also part of a group of apps with a dead website.
Aqua Mail developer here.
This is a bug in the official released version.
Very rare, only affecting a small %% of users and always Android 8.0.
We were not able to reproduce (tried 4 phones with 8.0).
Still, there is a newer version that fixes this (as far as we know).
Please see our forum under "development builds" and try the latest 1.14.2:
