BlueMail is a cloud-based email service, i.e. your email is routed through their servers. If you use their service, you are giving them access to all of your email contents, and they are monetizing your data. Privacy policy here:
I had the T-Mobile G1. I've been on XDA for 10 years (dragon_76). I've owned and rooted a good 20-30 Android devices, including a MotoActv. I've installed Android on x86 devices.
Rooting is not a straightforward process for any device. Including Nexus.
Rooting wipes your device.
Nova Launcher (of which I own Prime), is very limited in how you can use it. If someone doesn't like standard launchers, Nova Launcher is not a solution.
BlueMail is an absolute nightmare for anyone who cares even a tiny bit about their privacy.
Android has almost zero support for standard external hardware. Even the best cameras on Android are usually pretty bad. Their privacy permissions system is broken for legacy apps. Installing apps to SD cards is a nightmare, and resetting your device breaks the encryption required to install to SD, so you have to reformat your SD. There's been many times that malware was found in the Play Store. The list of OS issues goes on. It's just not a very good OS.
Ok, so setting this up is pretty simple and straightforward. We will use a free host to start with. Go here to x10hosting and create yourself a free account. Its a guided setup, so its not to complex.
Once you have created the account, following this guide to configure your new email address.
It will prompt you to choose an email client once you have completed your email address setup. I would personally recommend choosing Mozilla/Thunderbird as a client, as it compatible with a wide range of applications to check your email.
I use bluemail, which can be found on the Google Play store or iOS App Store for free. Once your account is configured all you have to do is log in with the password that you setup during the email config, to log into the bluemail application.
Please bear in mind that this is just a test run. You may eventually be banned from using their services, because walk email is against their terms. This may or may not work for you indefinitely. It just depends on how many times they check your activity, and how many times your email is reported as spam. If this does not work and you need further assistance just inbox me, and I will help you choose a plan that is right for you and help you to configure a new premium server. Best of luck in your endeavors.
Blue mail stores your emails on their servers - see here from their privacy policy: "you give Blue Mail permission to securely access your information contained in or associated with those accounts."
" the service does securely store some emails on a temporary basis in order to deliver them to you as quickly as possible and keep track of your deferred messages." https://bluemail.me/privacy/
I've been using Bluemail on my android phone, but just recently found out they have clients for iOS, Mac, Windows and Linux too. It supports Exchange, and works well with Gmail and IMAP.

Yeah, this is a real pain for me too. It ruined my Mutt filtering system at the University. It cut my productivity in half as the Programme Leader for a BSc degree course. IT services won't change it back because it is out of their hands (they put themselves in that corner like a bunch of amateurs) so I was left with clunky web mail or the only one they recommended for Linux was:
I run OpenBSD, not Linux so it was no good for me. However, you might have some luck. It does look pretty terrible though. I think it is basically an electron wrapper around Microsoft's web API.
My solution was instead to run a Windows server running Outlook with an IMAP and SMTP gateway that I wrote to proxy between standards and non-standards.
Go to https://bluemail.me/ then click the arrow next to "Download Snap" and choose your option. I am using POP and downloaded the RPM versions and clicking on it in my downloads folder started the installation process.
It looks to me this is what you did and it is installed?
I've used multiple accounts with Android BlueMail (bluemail.me) for maybe 3-4 years. Lightweight, stable, minimal, nimble, handled everything I've ever thrown at it. Folder management is quite clunky, so I usually do that in Thunderbird.
For a while info on the authors was mysteriously scarce to none, which was slightly unsettling. They finally revealed themselves, and seem legit enough.
Noticed they now have a Windows client. But it's an MS Store app, which requires Windows Update services, which I prefer disabled for now, long story. If anyone knows how to "sideload" it (install without using MS Store), please share your sage trickery.
BlueMail (and TypeApp which is basically the same thing) is not just email client apps. It is an email "service" that utilize cloud components.
I don't exactly what they do with your data, but they do have access to your accounts, so you need to decide for yourself if you trust them.
