That is fantastic stuff. I was using Bluetitle on Fedora 14 and I really enjoyed the 50/50 mix of tiling window manager and traditional desktop. It really struck a harmonious chord with my workflow. Shellshape seems to offer the same set of benefits to the Gnome Shell.
This is definitely on my list of shit to do today!
Maybe try Bluetile? It's basically xmonad with some special configuration to make it more accessible to users who are used to traditional window managers, including full mouse support.
That's partly because my life has been a bit of a mess, but also partly because it's not meant to be.
QuickTile is meant to be an alternative to jumping into the deep end of tiling by adding some tiling functionality to the user's existing favorite WM.
(Think of it as sitting somewhere between running just an ordinary floating WM on its own and using Bluetile)
Naturally, since it runs as an ordinary application rather than a window manager, its abilities are somewhat limited and adding new ones takes more thought and work.
I do, however, have some major plans for new features when time permits.
I just don' t care anymore... I really liked ratpoison, because it feels like screen. Now I use bluetile http://www.bluetile.org/ in gnome. It's xmonad without the hassle. Sometimes I'm too lazy to start it and use plain metacity.
Btw.. how do I pronounce metacity, meta as in metatag? or as in tenacity?
