If you want to see a site that is DDoS frequently just look at https://fastcomet.com and it's an annoying site to use because the cloudflare machinery is intruding into everything and even disrupting their normal service. For instance it periodically breaks their ticketing system.
I've used several hosting providers over the years and now have a Virtual Private Server on FastComet.com . Early on they invested in Solid State Discs which, among other things, made them blazingly fast.
FastComet has colocated servers in several locations around the world so you can host close to the client's local market (I have sites resident in London and in Dallas/Houston). Not least of all their Customer Support is responsive to adding server software features that will speed up response and download times.
FC also has fast 'shared' hosting plans for individual sites that are quite affordable.
My personal recommendation is fastcomet.com. They are on the market for almost 10 years, and provide truly best hosting services. All my projects and websites are stored there and I am happy with the services they are providing. Also, the price is quite cheap + free trial period!
