For future reference, FastGlacier comes with a data calculator that will warn you how much it will cost to restore the selected data. It also lets you reduce the avg bandwidth which can reduce the cost pretty significantly (although this isn't too helpful if you need the data right away).
Ironically, the Smart Data Retrieval with FastGlacier webpage shows an estimated cost of restoring 43.9GB of data from Glacier to be $89.74
We were using the AWS Storage Gateway appliance too, but found it was too expensive, and instead use Amazon Glacier. Much more reasonable pricing. If you decide to look into this, check out FastGlacier as it comes with a command line tool that can be used in batch files and scripts to automate the replication from tape.
まず、何よりも クライアントソフトウェア が必要になりますね。
私は S3Browser と FastGlacier を使っています。
Pro版を購入して制限を取っ払っているので、東京リージョンでのup速度は25MB/sオーバー余裕です。
アカウント取得や初期設定については、私もうろ覚えだったり;
本気で導入を検討しているのでしたら、一緒にいろいろと調べてみましょう^
途中で思い出すこともあると思いますし。
It's going to take some time on a cable modem; I'm uploading ~2TB on DSL and it will take several more weeks, but if you want to back up your data with Glacier, http://fastglacier.com/ has a good client for doing so.
Yep, I got it pretty much all working.
I'm using http://fastglacier.com/ w/ a SQL Server Agent Job to automate uploading the backups to glacier. All is going well except for some odd configuration issue, but I have it working manually, at least. :)
If you don't need the files very often then Glacier would be the better solution (around USD 100 for 10 TB/month). There is FastGlacier which I haven't used but seems to do the thing: http://fastglacier.com/. Remember to consider that while AWS does not charge for the data when you upload it, they will charge when you download it. According to AWS calculator 10 TB worth of data transfer from S3 is more than USD 900 per month. Also, you need to pay when you initiate the request to retrieve data from Glacier to S3.
I totally second s3/Glacier for personal use (large scale CR2 image file storage) w/ a pseudo-friendly tool like http://fastglacier.com ... just enough UI and command line for what I want and none of what I don't. It's freemium but Pro is only $40
