Hi Horiizon,
Thanks for checking out Flamelink.
At the moment, Flamelink only works with a new Firebase project, HOWEVER: We are currently hard at work rolling out our Extended Data Manager feature, which will allow users to access their existing Firestore data in Flamelink. This release is imminent - so you should be good to go in good time. :-)
Feel free to join our Slack workspace for latest updates (incl the announcement for our Extended Data Manager feature): https://flamelink.io/slack
You may want to look at using Flamelink.io to help you manage your data/content in your Firebase project. I believe it'll go a long way in helping you out. We love Firebase - it's secure, speedy and scalable. Plus we love how they're constantly rolling out features to take Firebase to the next level. Incidentally, it was for the very reason and examples you mentioned that we decided to purpose-build Flamelink as a headless CMS to add, manage and update content in Firebase. It's pretty easy to get started for free - https://hackernoon.com/want-to-get-started-with-flamelink-a-firebase-cms-right-now-2eb93d6d7be9 We're still in beta, but would love it if you would gave Flamelink a spin to see how it can help you and your Firebase project. *Full Disclosure: I work for Flamelink, so I may be just a little biased. ;-) Please feel free to get in touch via Slack if we can be of any help getting you started - https://flamelink.io/slack
We love Firebase, it's fast, secure, scalable and they're constantly rolling out rad features to make it a powerful tool in any Developer's arsenal. Flamelink.io is perfect for helping you manage content in your Firebase project. We're rolling out some tutorials to help get users started, but here's a good one to get you going: https://hackernoon.com/want-to-get-started-with-flamelink-a-firebase-cms-right-now-2eb93d6d7be9 You can also join our Dev team on Slack https://flamelink.io/slack, we're ready to assist in any way we can. :-) Pls let me know if we can be of any help. *Full Disclosure: I'm from Flamelink.io, we purpose-built Flamelink to be a headless CMS specifically for Firebase - so my opinion may be slightly biased. ;-) Looking forward to hearing from you.
You could write your own admin panel, or you could use something like https://flamelink.io/
This will use its own document structure so it can't just run on your own data. You could either move over to Flamelink SDK, or you could use Firebase Functions to update your own structure whenever flamelink's changes! That's a bit rube goldberg, but might work for you.
Gatsby is a great solution. A few others (static sites) are Hugo and Jekyll. For a Firebase CMS there is FlameLink. It looks interesting, but I can't verify if it is good or not.
Hey, disclaimer up front, I work for the company building it but you could try looking at Flamelink. Its built on Google's Firebase. Hosting is free using Firebase as it'll be a Firebase site and there's a lot of docs around it.
I've personally managed to build quite a few non-company sites in like days using Flamelink.
Check it out at https://flamelink.io - it's not big yet but our devs are personally reachable and involved with anyone interested in helping us make it better.
Currently, Flamelink works with the RTD, but we're hard at work on Firestore integration. It's our single biggest focus once we're out of beta. If you'd like, you can sign up to our newsletter here: https://flamelink.io/newsletter - we'll make a pretty big fuss about Firestore integration. :-) (I promise our newsletters are not spammy and OTT)
That's great to hear. Thanks so much for checking us out. :-) We've got a couple of resources to help you get started, like: https://hackernoon.com/want-to-get-started-with-flamelink-a-firebase-cms-right-now-2eb93d6d7be9 You can also chat to our team directly on Slack if you have any questions: https://flamelink.io/slack We're standing by to help.
