There may need to be some updates to this graphic. For example, Startpage is now majority owned by the pay-per-click behavioral ad company System1. System1 owns Infospace. Infospace owns dogpile (which serves some Google results) and Webcrawler.
So another scary thing is the consolidation of search that uses the Google index, which lessens competition further.
