Hello, thank you very much!
Basically, I've made video games for a living since they actually looked like Horace! I started in the industry in 1995, so the SNES was still around and the Playstation was just about launched, I think I mentioned it to someone else, Horace basically how I imagined games would look and feel when I was a kid! :)
As for specific inspiration, the two main things were the game, 'Jet Set Willy' and the film, 'Being There' but basically, I just wanted to make a tripple A SNES game, in 2020 :D
I made all the music in a super old package called 'MadTracker' http://www.madtracker.org/main.php but I can play quite a lot of instruments (mainly drums and a decent amount of guitar and piano) and have written songs for various bands I've been in for 20+ years so that side of things comes quite easy to me. I guess I can just recommend downloading MadTracker and mess around with it :)
As for story inspiration, as I say, 'Being There' was the main one, it's a story of a very innocent middle aged man leaving his house for the first time and going on a BIG adventure! I thought that would make for a decent story, I decided to change the man to a Robot though as it was easier to make him 'innocent'.
It's never expressly said but 'Chance' in 'Being There' probably has severe learning difficulties, I thought that may not be so easy to portray in a game though, so, he became a nice innocent yellow Robot instead :)
Cheers! :)
