as a non-entrepreneur most people don't like surveys. the only ones who fill those out are people who like your site, which is the wrong demographic. I would recommend implementing something like http://mouseflow.com/ or clicktale which will give you mouse tracking and heatmaps for your website. Tells you how long people stay on pages, where they focus, etc etc. really giving you an overview of what they like and what they skip over.
I've been using Mouseflow for the past few months to gauge how visitors navigate our website and where they head first. The click maps are often quite interesting when you realise people are clicking on elements that aren't actually clickable.
I check the heatmaps to get a general feel for how successful the small changes are that we make and then watch recordings when I get some time to analyse individual visits in some depth.
