Cant you tell him to just freeze it? Make it unavaliable for replies? Or ask him to give you any data? About a year ago curiosity.com was shut down (kinda like a science magazine) after its aquisition by discovry channel. I tried almost everything to back it up.
Httrack might fail sometimes and its kinda painful when this happens.. Also, I think it doesn't record the graphics well. I also tried a "premium" web scrapper "offline explorer" https://metaproducts.com/products/offline-explorer-enterprise which I got it from a kinda "non-conventional source", if you get what I mean. It turns out not only it was too power hungry to finish its job completely even after running for ~10-20hours, but also kinda broke the file associations, so I ~had to install windows on top of my windows (kinda like an update without losing data as opposed to a complete reinstall https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ldqFdcGL1X0). At least I managed to get ~half of the site in a kinda graphic-less form, but I found that almost all of it exists in webarchive (https://web.archive.org/).
Btw, hi, I'm Greek too.
