They have a very comprehensive step-by-step starting documentation, what is complex about it ?
This course looks like a good alternative though.
Detect the input field. Use a condition with the length
function in a formula, such that if it's greater than 10, execute the response. That response would be the Text response using the left
function, with 10 as the character count.
You should be able to use these functions to address the phone formatting. Plus, the docs will help: https://www.protopie.io/learn/docs/formulas/functions#text
You can also try protopie. It does support passing data. And it allows for far richer interaction design and prototyping that figma. Axure could also perform this.
Personally I find protopie much friendlier than axure, even though I have used axure much more in the past.
Thanks, I was thinking more about the triggers supported in Protopie rather than the devices on which it can be displayed. There may be a more robust desktop interaction trigger / behavior model than it looks at first blush, but that info is what I was responding to.
Axure is definitely more complex model to learn and work with - once you get it it’s powerful, but it’s a longer learning curve than other design tools. This is where I end up frustrated, I want the middle ground that seems empty, I want more fidelity than what the layout-oriented tools support, but only the Axure-level complexity for the most complex prototyping needs. Maybe it’s just wanting Axure to have a better progressive disclosure of the complexity or Figma to have a power user unlock to expose more complexity. Shrug
You can do both things in ProtoPie. Also the level of control in ProtoPie far higher than in Adobe xd. You can create realistic and advanced prototypes that are pretty close to the final product.

Students can get a 1-year free license in ProtoPie. You can create realistic and advanced prototypes that are production-like and are barely distinguishable from the final product designers are working on.
Find example prototypes to get an idea of what kind of prototypes can be made and how realistic they can be.
If you are looking into a solution that’s in the highly interactive prototyping space, ProtoPie is your friend. In ProtoPie, you can create realistic and advanced prototypes perfect for user testing.

I like how they do it in ProtoPie: https://www.protopie.io/learn
But that's also partially because I like how ProtoPie itself works (in comparison functionality and ease of use; principle, InVision, sketch, Figma are too simple, Axure has to many menus)
I've been using Protopie for prototyping sketch files for over the last year and have to say it is one of, if not the best option out there for building out immensely detailed, functioning prototypes from static designs, and with the addition of components, there will be huge workflow savings for future projects.
For those who have never used or heard of Protopie before, it will not provide any usable code, but it does offer developers great insight of how the interactions within your design should work and look like.
To get an idea of what you can do with it, check out some of their examples. I've built entire apps with multiple screens using this tool (pre components) and highly recommend it.
