HTTPS Everywhere is from the EFF. That should say it all. They also offer it outside of the google & firefox addon pages.
I looked briefly into Smart HTTPS and it has different named owners in the google & firefox addon dictionary. There is no direct reference to the code either on the addon page. And their official website also seems to have ads. On top of that the link to the github repo is after their Facebook powered comment section which seems pretty hidden since you need to scroll past that first. Not to forget that they have a ticket system directly on their website vs. github. While there isn't anything wrong with any of that, it just leaves one bad taste after another.
