Nice article!
If you want to contribute to OSM in a fun way, I suggest you take a look at Street Complete. It is an android app that shows stuff around you that you could help with in a "gamified" way (like little quests to achieve), such as in outing the speed limit of a given road, the opening time of a restaurant, the name of a path or a street, etc. Then you can upload the data to OSM.
Pretty cool!
There's always Open Street Map and everyone can help: with their time (mapping stuff), skills (writing more software), money (servers and developers rely on it), or hardware (again, servers).
My favourite project around OSM is StreetComplete. It's a free android app that lets you add more information to OSMap in your local area by answering really simple and clear-cut questions.
Also take a look at the android app StreetComplete. It creates quests where there is incomplete data. Really nice to discover some lesser known features that are "hidden"¹ in the map data.
1: only used by specific applications
Ich liebe die App. Nächsten Monat habe ich Änderungen auf ~~allen~~ fast allen Kontinenten gemacht und über 2000 "Punkte"!
...habe sonst keine Spiele drauf ;)

You can also ask them to use StreetComplete, which has a quest to add sidewalk tagging. It is super simple to use. You add tags via simple quests.
Maybe you know the answer: one thing I'm often afraid of is, when I contribute data about a building somewhere, what do those scripts do? Will they overwrite what I did, or decide not to change it? Specifically, I fear that if I, say, correct the name of some shop, that that will prevent its name from being updated when a name shop is opened in its place.
(Also: a shoutout to StreetComplete, which makes it ridiculously easy and kind of fun to contribute some data on the go.)
Super Idee. Ihr könntet vielleicht mal die Leute von StreetComplete bitten eine Quest Kategorie dafür zu erstellen.
Die App ist so ziemlich das einfachste Tool zum vervollständigen von OSM.
Poor example. StreetComplete doesn't ask for surfaces of motorways. It did for a couple of weeks when released with v0.5 but no longer did as of v0.6.
Some optimizations:
> ( nwr["tourism"="alpine_hut"]({{bbox}});
nwr["tourism"="wilderness_hut"]({{bbox}}); );
> ( nwr["tourism"~"^alpine_hut|wilderness_hut$"]({{bbox}}); );
> [bbox:{{bbox}}];
( nwr["tourism"~"^alpine_hut|wilderness_hut$"]; );
Several optimized examples can be found in this GitHub comment for StreetComplete.
Edit: added ^ and $ to regular expressions
Posso rilanciare con SteetComplete app open-source che permette di aggiungere tutta una serie di informazioni informazioni ad openstreetmap in maniera semplice e veloce
I use StreetComplete's 'Add OSM Note' feature.
You can drag the map until the note position is in the right place on the map, then add text and take photos. You can then view the note in JOSM or iD.
StreetComplete is designed to be usable by people who know nothing about OSM. Please, report problems at https://github.com/westnordost/StreetComplete/issues if something is wrong/unclear/missing (IMHO surface quest is 100% clear, but well, I am not a novice mapper).
