Hello,
As [thegalon](/u/thegalon) noted, the Disk Cleanup Wizard (filename: CLEANMGR.EXE
) removes temporary files, logs, memory dumps files and other ephemera from Windows. If you run it and click on the Clean Up System Files button, it will re-launch and even offer some additional options, such as to remove the backup files from a prior edition of Windows (just in case you upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1).
Here are some articles on it:
As far as a SD (MicroSD?) cards go, I would suggest getting the largest, fastest one possible. I have had good results with Patriot, Samsung and SanDisk brands in various devices.
You should never defragment a SSD, SD Card, or other FLASH RAM device that uses NAND memory (USB flash drives, CompactFlash, SmartMedia, etc.), as these devices don't suffer from fragmentation, per se. Every cell (location on the die of the memory) is accessed at the same speed, so moving things around in an attempt to defragment them does not make any sense. Also, the number of write-cycles a NAND memory cell can sustain is much lower than those for HDDs, so defragmenting may lead to premature failure of the flash RAM.
