I've tried CalmyWriter and ZenPen. Also, Noisli is a good choice for these who work better with background sounds.
Nearly all the people on the planet fall short in different ways. They do have their headaches and weaknesses that only the bravest venture to try healing by digging deep into their soul. Ability to remedy yourself by revealing some of your dearest pains and secrets on paper is truly a blessing. I, personally, often times write to take a burden of emotional hits off my head, and I highly recommend this type of therapy for everyone who wants to regain peace in their minds. Here is a nice tool that blacks out all the distractions and lets you write in a cozy interface http://www.zenpen.io/ Thank you.
I haven't done an AMA haha, thanks for the interest :)
I rarely have a complete idea set out in my mind when I start writing, though I try to think of a vague, general plotline before I start. I like to start by just trying to think of an interesting intro paragraph.
I usually have a feeling for when I've written a interesting story when I finish it, so then I'll take more time to go back and edit and perhaps add to it before I post it. I often post something and then add little bits to it later though (or make big changes). But people's reactions are surprising. Sometimes a story will take off that I didn't expect to get responses, or something will flounder that I loved writing.
Oh, and I use this to write actually - http://www.zenpen.io, and then copy the story over :)
I totally understand! I would use this, but I don't need an advanced tool. http://www.zenpen.io/ You could play with this open source text editor and make it more fun. It is really simple to tear apart. Not sure if it is advanced enough. And listen to upbeat music!
Unfortunately, I don't think you will get one because I did it not because its bad. I am switching from Windows to OS X completely after graduating from college.
I write stuff in markdown format, this is why I don't need more powerful apps to write, such as Office. Although I get iWorks for free as a backup, I mainly using Byword to write or ZenPen if I don't have my Apple devices on me. If you are like me, I also recommend Ommwriter.
Its more because of what I need and a personal choice.
