No. It's just cheaper. That's literally the only advantage of using PIA, besides supporting the company. I understand Reddit loves PIA but most people have no idea what they're talking about.
NordVPN comes with better security (double hop VPN servers), better ad block (PIA MACE a very limited ad blocker, no customization and it's less efficient than CyberSec from NordVPN), better support (NordVPN has live chat support, 30 day money back quarantee, PIA has notoriously bad support
Edit: PIA Is not a bad VPN by any means but this bandwagoning is getting ridiculious. Downvotes just prove my point.
VPN's themselves are fine. Using FREE VPN's is not fine. Nothing is free.
There are plenty of reputable and quite good VPN services out there. I use NordVPN myself and have zero issues whatsoever. Speed is great, my tracks are covered, and I can access region restricted content. It's affordable, safe, and indispensable.
Anymore, you're foolish for not using a VPN. Just make sure that you use a legimate one. Any kind of "Free" VPN is stealing your data, has shit speeds, or worse.
If you want an exhaustive list of VPNs and how they compare to each other, I would highly recommend checking out , specifically the VPN Comparison Chart. There is a more detailed and advanced version of the chart but the simple one will suffice for non-advanced users.
NordVPN user here. It's pretty solid. I use their desktop app but I use OpenVPN app on Android with their ovpn config files. (No particular reason, android app wasn't ready back when I set it up) I'm happy with the performance at both ends. Some servers perform better than others but there is an incredible amount of selection when it comes to servers. I'm really happy with it.
Honestly you won’t get a great VPN that provides lifetime subscription and everything you are hoping for. I personally use NordVPN and it has treated me well, decent speeds, plenty of servers, no logs etc. and not terribly expensive. Main thing about Nord is it resides in Panama, accepts Bitcoin, and does not require any personal info. Obviously there are numerous options but the good/great ones will not provide a lifetime subscription.
For some other possible options and privacy in general use the wesbite for info.
Additionally, making sure your VPN has DNS leak protection is important, because if it doesn't there's still a way for your ISP to see what you're doing. NordVPN does have this, but there are some paid ones that do not, so it's important check that out first.
My favorite so far is NordVPN, and their price isn't bad if you go annual. If you're of the *nix persuasion, you'll have to do the usual setup, but they do provide the config to import.
I've had pretty good experiences with NordVPN so far. They have a constantly updated list of servers that work with US-Netflix, it's a little annoying having to pick a specific server every time but it always works.
Hard to say which is the best. If you want quality, go for a paid option. I've tried many services. Currently I'm using NordVPN and I'm happy with it. They offer quality VPN with many options for a fair price. I don't use the android app since it lacks the option to not route local network traffic. But besides that, NordVPN is a reliable choice.
NordVPN. I bought like 3 years at $2.75/month and you can run it on like 5 devices simultaneously or something like that. Based in Venezuela or Panama I think. No logging and no extradition to the US either so your data, even if it were held (it's not) would be safe from the US government
Every time someone asks "what's the best VPN to access Netflix in "Country-X" from "Country-Y", the answer seems to be NordVPN. The same goes for (Netflix on) Android phone, Android TV, Apple TV, iPhone, Smart TV, etc.
NordVPN is one of the most highly recommended providers, and it's also in an area where they are not affiliated with or are required to hand over any data regarding their users regardless of who asks. They also keep no logs, allow torrents, Onion over the VPN (TOR Network), kill switch, and more.
China's a little different but the Great Firewall is easily surpassed by VPNs like NordVPN.
I lived in South Korea and now Thailand where porn's illegal and all I have to do is switch to https:// and I have access.
Apollo for Reddit (have literally tried all the other reddit apps, and this is still the best).
Rick Steves Audio Europe - free audio walking tours in some European cities. Are professional quality and come with maps. Amazing travel app if you travel solo.
Pocket Casts- beautiful app, and i like podcasts
lire - best payonce RSS app on iOS atm. Can also sync and fetch text for offline use without extra charges (just a bit slow).
NordVPN - tried a few big names, this is the best. Can even fool Netflix.
OSMAnd maps- useful if you travel alot. Can save offline maps of cities/countries. Since you wont find data everywhere. I understand googlemaps can do it too but its way more cumbersome if you travel multiple cities,
I pay for mine, currently NordVPN, though I've used others there without real issue. There's virtually always some deal or another with one of the reputable vpns, and if there isn't you only need wait a wee bit and there will be one. ( is a pretty decent overview and starting point)
NordVPN, hundreds of access points Dozens of countries, even High Speed "streaming" access points, and direct to TOR access points that encrypt your entire connection stream, they even accept Bitcoin. They have a Canary, and even still have no logging.
NordVPN is good. Based in Panama, no logging policy. You can pay by credit card or even crypto. Works with Netflix to give you US Netflix. Has servers based in most countries (Malaysia, Singapore, etc for speed). I believe they have a 2 year plan for ~$79 USD and 3 years for ~$99 USD
I'm on team NordVPN. They've been brilliant so far. However, anyone with Sky needs to disable Sky Shield to even access the NordVPN site as it is blocked by sky. Ridiciculous. I thought Sky Shield was to "protect" you, not stop you from protecting yourself. Sky really, really do not want you to get a VPN.
I pay for Netflix, HBO Now, Hulu+Spotify (student package which is only $5/month), and of course, NordVPN for torrenting everything else. I also have Amazon Prime student which I bought specifically for shipping. Don’t use it much except to watch The Grand Tour.
Edit: edited for clarity. My sentence structure was initially poor leading everyone to believe I pay $5 for everything.
NordVPN and ExpressVPN works for me right now.
Edit: NordVPN has a 3 day trial where all you give is your email and you can use any server and you get normal speeds. Same as ExpressVPN for Mobile only you search up netflix with either vpn, they have a guide that will tell you which servers to use.
Buy a 1-month VPN membership (a good one like NordVPN) and watch the CBC or BBC’s coverage. Way less ads, very little obnoxious commentary, and content on demand with full event streaming online. Stop bitching about NBC, we all know they suck. Just pay the $12 and cancel the service at the end of the month. It’s easy.
Many streaming broadcasters are now starting to do this. I use a VPN (NordVPN -- not recommending them, just stating what I use). These streaming services cannot track my true location, DNS or IP address on a Virtual Private Network.
I'm using NordVPN since they're based in Panama. I was using Private Internet Access but I read recently that it's not a good idea to use a service that's based in the US since they could be susceptible to the US's shady spying nonsense.
Hijacking your comment for anyone who doesn't know:
In Qbittorrent: Options>Advanced>Network Interface
For me, it was properly set to Ethernet 2, which means it was running through Nord VPN.
If you're not sure which one is your VPN, do the following:
With your VPN turned off, open the "Run" app (aka the DOS thing)
Type CMD and hit enter
Type ipconfig/all
Leave that window open, then turn on your VPN. Then type ipconfig/all again.
Compare your two sets of results with each other. The VPN should show up the second time you run it.
Look for something like Ethernet adapter Ethernet 2. Under that, it should say NordVPN somewhere. If it does, then you want to set your network interface in QBittorrent to Ethernet 2. If Nord is listed under something else, set your interface to that instead.
Additionally, inside of your Nord interface, go to settings>app kill switch>add applications, then find qbittorrent and add it. You can also turn on the Internet Kill Switch, but you have to remember to either turn it off or always run your VPN. This should kill your connection if there's a leak or if you forget to close Qbittorrent before you shut down your VPN.
EDIT: You silly bastards, giving me your silver and gold. Go spend it on a good VPN!
Can't belive you forgot these:

Have you ever tried to access your favorite shows on Netflix, only to be blocked by your country? Tried to log in to PayPal, YouTube or other sites while trying to buy plushies… but couldn’t? Well I have a solution to your problem thanks to today’s sponsor, NordVPN.
I have ExpressVPN and am due to re-up and continue paying for it soon
I found out recently it’s a front company for some shady Chinese company
Most tech sites that rate VPNs say it’s the best VPN
Guess I’ll just go with no VPN and get spied on anyway for less money
Edit: I am basing this solely on an upvoted comment on reddit with a few reddit awards attached to it. I saw the comment within the past month or two. I cannot remember where but it looked like people believed what they were reading from some random redditor. Do not take my word as gospel here. I'm just going by what I read on this website.
what's up everybody TheDankener88 here for part seven of 'Black Panther: what went wrong?'.
In the last video, we talked about how a solid script was damaged by Disney's agenda-fueled decision to use a coloured-only cast and how that ruined the film due to the genetically low IQ negro actors. Black Panther is the pinnacle of Diversity-Quota-Culture and it needs to stop. I read through the comments and lots of you said that Tilda Swinton or Scarlett Johansen would have been a lot better for the role of Black Panther and I totally agree, so I've set up a petition which my patrons can enter!
*crosses arms*
Now, I'm all for social change and liberal ideals, but the Social Justice Warriors at Disney and triggered Berkley students have ruined it. That's why I voted Trump in the last election, and fully support his use of concentration camps on the border; we need to stop America turning into shithole Wakanda. Although cucked Disney won't say it, it's pretty clear that we must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children as the beauty of the White Aryan woman must not perish from the earth.

similarly, if you have a VPN (NordVPN is a great one), lets you search for movies and shows across the netflix catalog of tons of countries.
wanna watch harry potter on netflix but live in the U.S.? set up your VPN to connect to a server in france.
you can search just about anything and it’ll be on netflix somewhere. VPNs are super neat.
edit: NordVPN works flawlessly for me, but there are definitely VPNs that will not. free ones are pretty much guaranteed to not work.

Try a bunch of different vpn services. I used ExpressVPN. It takes a few minutes to connect but worked great. Your best bet is to use a port 443 or 80 vpn. You could check out OpenVPN
If it's a username password network you could spoof your MAC address to look like one of the teachers devices. This might not work depending on how you login process works.

BEFORE googling: go to a grocery store and buy (with cash) a credit gift card. Then go online a buy yourself a cheap VPN (virtual private network) like NordVPN or ExpressVPN.

NordVPN and those other ones that advertise on YouTube are run by the US government. CIA / NSA
How else do they have such huge advertising budgets to sponsor every fucking YouTube channel and video.
Plus think about it, instead of monitoring everyone’s traffic and looking for people that are hiding something you just release this VPN that’s “totally safe” and now all the people that actually have something to hide give you all their traffic.
How many people are using nordVPN when they don’t actually have something to hide. Most people don’t care about privacy like that.
Yeah I understand the concept of not needing something to hide to want privacy but from the government’s perspective is this not the best way to go about knowing who to monitor?

Any VPN that is in Hong Kong even if it used to be good is now a Chinese covert surveillance aggregator.
Always look into what country a VPN business is based in. You don't want it based in China, Russia or part of the 5, 9 or 14 eyes nations.
This isn't to say that any country couldn't be secretly using their VPNs in their country to collect data but if you avoid fascist countries and stick to those that don't share information with other countries it will not be near as much of a risk. Also of course don't use one in based in your own country for obvious reasons or in one that hates your country as you don't want to be blackmailed into stealing company / government secrets one day.
Edit: As pointed out by Angevinz this only applies to paid VPNs if the VPN is free it is like Facebook, meaning you are the product and not the customer as someone else is paying them and they should be avoided. Also while that link recommends NordVPN I was not endorsing it but also am not saying isn't any good. You should do your own research on what is best for you.

Just tried it using ProtonVPN and it is not working for me either. They've apparently got a way to detect and stop it from working if you use a VPN. source
NordVPN is registered to an address in Panama used by shell companies. Their payments are processed by an american company called CloudVPN, which is owned by a man called Darius Bereika from Lithuiana. Darius Bereika also owns Tesonet, a data mining company. Tesonet has been sued for infringment on patents regarding the extraction of data from users of a VPN service.
Yeah, keep on trusting NordVPN. They're totally not sketchy at all.
Regarding VPNs, I do think they are beneficial. The problem is the misunderstanding of what they do.
Your internet traffic is routed through the VPN instead of your service provider. Your service provider has no idea what you’re browsing besides seeing your connection is going through a (probably identified) VPN.
You maintain privacy from your service provider since they can’t track your web activities. This is different from anonymity as you can be identified, by the website, once you log into it such as your Reddit account or haven’t flushed your cookies prior to using the internet with VPN.
The VPN servers are prone to being hacked like every other computer connecting to the internet. The benefit of a VPN is they identify the servers you can use. In the case of the NordVPN hacking, NordVPN also discontinued the use of that server that was compromised. On the flip side, I’m not sure where my service provider keeps it’s servers or has even announced if they’ve ever been compromised (announced by themselves or by a news source).
You can still get viruses, malware, cookies to your web browser…basically everything that goes along with not using a VPN.
FYI… If you notice that the S is missing in the HTTPS part of the website, your service provider can see both the website and specific page you’re browsing. With HTTPS, the service provider can see what website you’re on, but not the specific page you’re browsing. Based on the website, your service provider can kinda determine what you’re doing. Example: if you’re on HTTPS and on pornhub, the service provider (and any reasonable person) can probably suspect you’re looking at porn.
By the way, I am in no way an expert on computers, but have some understanding.
“Hey Mick, remember when the ECW crowds wanted to cane Dewey? Well, if you had NordVPN back then, you could sleep peacefully knowing Dewey was protected by the leader in internet privacy. Use CODE “CaneDewey” for a 1-month free trail.”
1) buying a region-free Blu Ray player is the best option for someone in your situation. I own and would highly recommend the Sony UBP-X700 as it can play 4k UHD Blu Rays (those are already region free) and is backwards compatible with Blu Rays and DVDs of any region as well. I got mine for $125
2) If cost is an issue, wait for the Barnes & Noble 50% off sales every July and November. They ship internationally and shipping is free if your order is over $50. I never buy my Criterions at full SRP.
3) if you're interested in just watching films in the collection, look into streaming the Criterion Channel with a VPN (the service is only available in the US and Canada, but with a VPN you can get on a proxy server in those regions). I would recommend ExpressVPN as it's easy to use and not highly expensive.
I have NordVPN. It has its issues. A lot of sites behind some sort of DDOS-protection device or service (like cloudfare) will block a lot of NordVPN IPs. Amazon's main website often doesn't work if I'm connected to it. Also some minor sites, like won't work if I have a NordVPN connection active. It's pretty annoying.
Edit: ironic on a video with a guy advertising NordVPN, consensus in off topic sub-thread concludes PIA is better. LMAO
Hi Andy! Thanks for doing this. Eventually, using a VPN comes down to “how much do you trust the VPN provider”. And a lot of this trust is directly tied to the people running the company today. But people will inevitably change or find a new job and leave the company and after a while the core ideas behind the company might get lost or could become compromised. So - first question - how are you planning to ensure that your line of thought will be consistent and coherent throughout the years as well as with future boards of directors and management and when should we become alarmed in case things go wrong? Second question - looking at what happened to /r/CopperheadOS how can we be sure that there won’t be any hostile takeovers from third parties? I realise that from a legal point of view Switzerland is not the US so someone taking over the company is rather unlikely, but it’s also worth remembering that ProtonVPN is, in fact, a separate company but nonetheless we have to trust a separate entity that is legally not the same as “ProtonMail” and the software ProtonVPN is running is not directly verifiable like for Open Source software, hence my question.
this comment was brought to you by Squarespace, Squarespace is the single easy to use website to create your own presence on the internet, have you ever browsed the Internet? Then you need ExpressVPN to encrypt your traffic

About NordVPN when they got hacked
> The company wouldn't go public until evidence of the hack emerged some six months later.
I've always used NordVPN for torrenting, gaming etc.
Before I had Nord, I was caught, got a letter and had to pay $900. Now, after subscribing to Nord everything is perfect.
Remember to use a VPN
NORD? AS IN NORDVPN?

Be wary of PIA; they were recently bought by a shady company. I’m currently using them, but I’m probably going to switch next time other good options such as NordVPN go on sale.
EDIT: Watch the Linus vídeo someone linked in a reply to me. It has a lot more information on the situation than I had previously seen. Do your research and make your own decision. For what it’s worth, I do think PIA has a great price for its quality and services, and I chose them over other VPNs when I did research on cost/quality/services/privacy a few years ago.

Ok I'm a hijack your comment for visibility and all that.
Discord never deletes your data. We're guessing that they delete your images when you delete them, but we can not be sure. Usually the images you delete are still available via the link for days, but only for your IP.
HOWEVER your texts are FUCKED. We don't know if they actually delete your text messages when you delete them on your end, but knowing that we all use Discord, you all probably have more than 10 thousand messages. YOU CAN NOT BULK-DELETE THEM. Even if you delete your account your messages are kept, which is against EU laws. The support won't help you either, the best reply you'll get (if they reply) is "We can't delete your messages lmao".
edit; it's already physically impossible for you to delete 10k+ messages, but just to add salt to the wound; you also can not delete certain messages. for example, if you had deleted your DM history with someone, those messages will forever stay with discord.
Discord sniffs your .exes so it can display your games. Even if you turn off "display my games", it still sniffs (as proven by some post on this sub long ago). This means they know all the shit you have on your PC, including possibly pirated crap that's not on your Steam account (which Discord can check since you probably have your Steam account linked)
Do not believe the staff when they say shit like "Yeah but we'd never sell your data". This is all corporate mumbo jumbo, they can do whatever they want. HideMyAss, a VPN service, said that they didn't log your internet history, but later it turned out they did roflmao.
Never trust corporations & their PR stuff when it comes to privacy. Always work under the assumption that you're constantly being watched, and that the people who watch you can invite anyone they want into the creeping party.

> - NordVPN is not being sued by anyone. The lawsuit was filed against Tesonet – a large tech company based in Lithuania.
> - Nobody is alleging that NordVPN clients are being used in a “botnet” (and this would be easy to verify with Wireshark).
> - NordVPN will be conducting an independent, third-party audit to verify their “no logs” claims, which they estimate will be done in the next few months.
>Despite all of the rumors flying around online, there does not appear to be any verifiable issues with NordVPN itself. The controversy with the lawsuit and charges of “data scraping” are exclusive to Tesonet – not NordVPN.
>As noted above, NordVPN still operates from the jurisdiction of Panama, which is a good location for privacy (outside of 14 Eyes). While NordVPN does have verifiable links to Tesonet in Lithuania, it is indeed under Panama jurisdiction and is legally its own entity. NordVPN has a no logs policy and has never been found to be providing information to third parties or state agencies.
Oh cool, mine is NordVPN.
Staying safe online is an ever growing difficulty and you could be exploited by hackers. NordVPN allows you to change your IP address, making you harder to track, securing your privacy.
Tbh as long as the advertisers are companies like Adidas who are closely connected to football & sponsor some of the worlds best players, Im fine with it
But if we‘d get stuff like a NordVPN Nation‘s Change promo then I’d mind
I skip anyone who uses "Military Grade Encryption" in their ads. It's such obvious horseshit, as if they're doing something a cut above when the entire internet uses AES256. Nord and ExpressVPN included.
The vast majority of VPNs are no longer functional, or have extremely intermittent connectivity from within China. Nord, Express, Mullvad and VyprVPN are effectively broken, with only smaller ones still working every now and then. It was not like this less than a year ago, where all of the above providers worked.
Source: currently in China.
Honestly at this point the damage is done, your posts are popular and archived so deleting your account/posts will not help. What you need to do and what we as fellow redditors need to do is get your name in the media and get you followed by reporters so they don't dare touch you or your family. If the eyes of the world are on you I think that is the best protection we can offer. Perhaps longer term some folks in the EU might be able to find a way to get you and your family to safety should you be willing to leave. I would say come to the US but with Trump in power I don't think you would be much safer here.
To anybody reading this post, please page news agencies, highlight what this guy achieved here, paging u/washingtonpost please, write a story about how this redditor got the word out when censorship descended at great personal risk and without even a thought for their own safety. These are the kind of stories we need, and this is the kind of situation where journalists can truly save lives, please keep the spotlight on, evil is waiting in the dark!
Edit:To anybody else in a dangerous situation that finds themselves needing to do what this person did, the web browser Tor was designed for just such an occasion, if you have the money invest in a VPN on top of it. [NordVPN]() is a great option and one that is known not to reveal its users, be certain whatever VPN you do use is truly anonymous, there are ones that sell info out there.
Before we start the video I want to tell you guys about something...
Katherine: bot accounts
Wagner: "How to forge 5* weapons (not clickbait)*
Kaeya: uploads minecraft and roblox gameplay on pornhub

I never was able to figure it out. VyprVPN/GoldenFrog is quite public about being a Swiss company, and a couple of others are easily traced to places like Panama and the Channel Islands. I have tried a couple of times to trace the corporate heritage of PIA and failed. But I am not an expert at it, possibly not even a good amateur. I was impressed on how public VyprVPN is about the people who run them, pictures and bios on their web site.
Edit: As soon as you dig into PIA, you find that it's parent is into a couple of different Martial Arts Fighting things, and the Food and Beverage industry, along with Open Source stuff. It is an odd combination of things.
NordVPN gets a lot of hate because their advertisements are pervasive, and their sales tactics are scummy. They did also get hacked once to my knowledge, but the server that was hacked did not contain any user activity logs.
If you compare them on That One Privacy Site you’ll see that they’re actually doing a lot right, including being based in Panama so they don’t have to send your data to a government.
Fun fact: I was once linked that by someone who thought it’d prove that Nord sucked, it didn’t.
This being said, VPNs aren’t really for privacy, and nothing is perfect. Do your own research, I’m not recommending Nord to you.
For the 1000th time:
Protonmail has to comply with the Swiss law when they are asked to keep IP records. Before that, they did not keep any IP logs.
Even then, the Proton Company fights every claim they get (as shown clearly on their yearly Transparency Report, and in this instance they couldn't say no.
Proton is not gonna put their head out for some random user that happens to have done something illegal.
For this reason, Proton actively encourages people to use TOR/ProtonVPN when connecting to ProtonMail: on ProtonVPN they will give only the VPNs IP, not the end-user's one. As for TOR, well, they only have a Tor-exit-node IP to give, as IP records previous to that were not registered.
Don't let sensationalism and click-bait headlines deceive you. Always do your own research.
>Development and deployment of internet freedom and Great Firewall circumvention tools for the people of Hong Kong
Is the US going to sponsor NordVPN? It actually not bad, make freedomVPN, make it free, promote it throughout the world as the tool for freedom of speech, secretly do some PRISIM stuffs with it, profit?.
Joking asides, I imagine something like the spacex starlink system would be the perfect solution to circumvent China great firewall, albeit unnecessary.
How many times do we have to say
Whatever your use case is, you're adding a malicious middleman in the middle of all your traffic. They are probably selling your data, including spyware or worse malware in their VPN clients, recording your IP and traffic, and any other underhanded path to more profit. Do you think they run their VPN on good will, hugs, and rainbows? How many times do known shitty VPNs like Hola and HideMyAss have to exploit and sell out their users before this stops?
Paid VPNs are not always good either, but they at least have a functional business model. They have community and employee reputations, usually open source clients, and strong legal protections in their jurisdictions.
Come to /r/VPN or /r/privacy or for recommendations or ask me. I can give you recommendations based on what you're looking for and what I've personally used. VPNs are typically around $4/month and well worth it.

There. Saved you the time.
TorrentFreak takes VPN Providers' word at face value and ignores the repeated evidence of "anonymous" VPN providers not delivering on their promises.
They should be asking different questions. For example, when all of these VPN Providers are "renting" servers and network and relying on 3rd parties, they should ask how those 3rd parties impact your privacy.
Please read our "I am Anonymous When I Use a VPN - 7 Myths Debunked" to see our take on the subject:

Golden Frog only retains the minimum amount of data to operate our business and then delete it as soon as we don't need it.

My favourite is still NordVPN by far. Yes, they have a lot of ads, but that means they have the money to do it. And people wouldn't recommend it if it was bad. Personally, out of all VPN's that I have tested, Nord is best by far.
They're cracking! And for the low price of just £3.95 a month you too can experience the unrivalled power of NordVPN™ just use code #bananainmybum for 15% off until the end of the marke... Er.. The end of September!
He had access to SHIELD files and Avenger candidates via Hope’s log in. Tony was actively recruited by Fury, Clint was already a candidate, Thor just happened to be there, I assume SHIELD also has a liaison with whatever division Thunderbolt Ross is heading since Banner is also a candidate, and Hank just followed Natasha after taking care of Banner.
The lesson of this episode? Use NordVPN. If Hope had used NordVPN to log in to top secret files, Maybe The Avengers would still be alive.
Do NOT download a random free VPN from the app store. First try using the app 1.1.1.1, this isnt a real vpn so there is no expectation of privacy, however, they will encrypt your dns requests so your requests might still go through to Apollo's servers. If you are gonna get a VPN do some research and get something "respectable" like NordVPN or Private Internet Access

Agreed. I bought a NordVPN subscription and broadcast the game on my TV via an HDMI connection with my laptop, which has worked great. But yeah, it’s a shame people need to jump through hoops for this.
I use ExpressVPN which allows me to to use it on up to 5 devices. You have to choose a VPN location inside the US because they block outside of country requests, but anywhere inside the US and you can do it no problem.
"slow internet speeds" ? I'm in Istanbul right now and Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and WhatsApp is completely blocked. Not slowed down. There is a complete nationwide ban on social media and instant messaging!
Edit: VPN services are being blocked! VPN Master, Hotspot Shield VPN, Psiphon, Zenmate VPN, TunnelBear, Zero VPN, VyprVPN, Private Internet Access VPN, Espress VPN, IPVanish VPN
I am also having trouble connecting to TOR due to which I fucking hope is not a complete ban of TOR
1Password. This app has become a necessity. One thing I've vowed to do in 2017 is not use the same damn password for every service, and to change passwords frequently or whenever a service is compromised.
Overcast. So many good podcasts in 2017. This is my favorite podcasting app.
Twitter (the official app). I used Tweetbot for some time, but have found the official Twitter app just works better. 2017 is definitely turning out to be the year when all news comes from Twitter (at least, that's how it feels these days).
Dayone. For me, personally, this app is a must-have every year. I have been using it for years and it continues to be a great app.
Narwhal. I have still yet to find a Reddit app that works as good as Narwhal.
Guardian. Love this news app. Of all the news apps I pay for (and I pay for quite a few), this one has the best layout and news IMO.
Protonmail. Privacy and security are going to be a big thing going forward, and this app provides secure, encrypted email in a really nice, simple app.
ExpressVPN. Again with the privacy and security theme, I see a lot of people getting VPN services. I have tried a few and this one works the best for my needs.
Signal. A great way to keep chats secure.
ETA: Another app I've really enjoyed is ToDoist. I have used this as my To Do app for the last year (after going through a number of to-do apps) and have really been able to stick with it. It offers a lot of really robust features in a sleek, minimalist UI. Works great on web and across different platforms (a must for me), can make sub-tasks, using the GTD approach, and can use IFTTT recipes with Trello.
NordVPN is definitely the best. I used all, but Nord outperformed all of them when it comes to speed and the stability of connections. You won't find a better one.
Do you use NordVPN? Staying safe online is an ever growing difficulty and you could be exploited by hackers. NordVPN allows you to change your IP address, making you harder to track, securing your privacy. Pro VPN: Your Internet Connection is secure. You can not be tracked by a website directly (that also counts for p2p) Also, you can mask your position in general, e.g. you can now watch bbc content outside of the uk or netflix us content from a different country.
Con VPN: The good ones cost money. It might make your speed a little bit slower, but if its a premium service where you pay (like NordVPN), that will hardly be the case.
Look for: VPNs that dont store your data (or at least tell you that and back it up with evidence). If you really want to be untrackable, look for bitcoin payment.

Actually nope. ExpressVPN is based in the United Kingdom and would be classified as a Connections Service Provider that needs to keep Internet Connection Records that are available.
/u/emmytee would need to use a paid vpn service that is not based in Britain.
Since you mention ProtonVPN, by default ProtonVPN would redirect all DNS requests.
Well one thing is for certain, he would be able to get away with a lot more by investing in a high quality VPN. And that's exactly what I'm here to talk to you about today!
ExpressVPN is a high quality, affordable VPN service that-
Surviving is hard, but you know what else is hard? Surviving on the internet without NordVPN™! It has a lot of useful features that we promise aren't only used for pirating stuff you can't watch on Netflix because you don't live in Europe. Use my promocode Dance2Survive and get your first month free!
>Nord is pretty well known as well for selling data
Can you source that? They say they don't track or keep any logs and if what you're saying is true then they are outright lying. Can you cite sources? As a Nord customer I'd certainly like to know if I should cancel my subscription
As an ease of use thing, Linux is way more widely supported than BSD, and because Linux can be catered and built to your needs, its just a weird pick. NordVPN was breached in 2019, not to comment on its privacy abilities. I don't know their quality, but I do personally use it and would switch. Brave is built on Chromium, so it has telemetry built in it. Firefox has alternatives that do not. And Tor is just slow to use.
I personally use Privateinternetacces. Their speeds can sometimes be bad, but on numerous occasions the FBI have requested logs and user data from them, and they simply had none to give: they don't track. Another one that sounds good is NordVPN. Before you buy a lengthy subscription try one month and see how speeds and connectivity works for you.
there's a massive shady company that's going around buying VPN companies, and I think NordVPN is one they've grabbed in the recent past. Independent and truly transparent VPNs are getting fewer by the day. I think Mullvad and ProtonVPN are two of the "good" ones these days. I've been using TorGuard for years but have no clue what is the current position.
Their goal is to make it that NordVPN will be the first thing people think of when they'll start considering some form of online security, not so that they'll stop whatever they're doing right now and buy the product
Wow I have NordVPN also! It provides me with safe internet browsing! I never have to worry about cyber attacks with NordVPN. Millions love it, so would you! Use my promo code HAGELKAISER for a 33% discount for one year!
I, Joseph Robinette Biden Jr., solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute this segue to our sponsor NordVPN. NordVPN supports a variety of VPN protocols and types of encryption and authentication allowing you to dial in the level of privacy you need. They’ve got apps for Windows, MacOS, Android, Linux and Google Chrome, and you can connect up to 5 devices at once using a single account. Their apps include DNS leak protection and IPV6 leak protection as well as their internet kill switch feature which blocks all traffic if the VPN becomes disconnected unexpectedly. Check it out today at Now that’s out of the way let’s continue with our swearing in...
I stopped pirating because I could stop paying for 50 channel cable packages and get everything in one place for one fee. I sucked it up and also got hulu, but now we're creeping up to the old model again. I'm not paying no $50 a month for all this shit. If they're not careful, they're going to turn internet video right back into an analog of cable, and that's going to make a bunch of people like me opt out again for the same reason we did before. And who gets the $10/mo then? That's right, NordVPN.
>This is really suspicious, and it confirms my intuitions that Nord is too good to be true.
>Don't trust NordVPN!!!!
You're a fool to consider this evidence or proof that your intuition is right.
I think this is what keeps putting me off actually deciding on one. Someone suggests a VPN, one or two people agree, then someone else comes along and gives a long list of reasons of why that VPN is not safe / completely untrustworthy. And usually it's for reasons i dont quite understand.
It's all well and good explaining that it's about 'trust', but who am I to trust some vague foreign entity i've never heard of to guard my internet traffic? What is my point of reference for what is good and what is bad? My point of reference often ends up being the dialogue i am exposed too, and the dialogue is ALWAYS conflicting.
Off the top of my head I can think of people mentioning NordVPN and PIA. PIA is apparently no good because it's in a 14 eyes country. I cant remember the exact reasons for people discouraging nordvpn, but I think it was to do with unreliability of service (I could be completely wrong). There just always seems to be various number of reasons why a certain VPN is good and why it is bad, and quite frankly I feel i'm in no position to choose the priorities that make for the most convenient, practical and effective security.
I think i'll just go with PIA. The website looks nice and easy. That's what its come down too with me.
