Very welcome.
If you're interested, the tetra two-way radio chatter between Transit Control & employees throughout the system is available on the police scanner app Broadcastify, which is free & playable on the web (with some ads iirc)---no app download necessary. Scanner Radio, same thing--tho they have an app you can put on your phone. Either is really handy to have during Police, Fire or TTC emergencies to get up-to-date info like, "has service at this subway station been interrupted because there's a stabby person running around looking to hurt someone, or was it just a bomb threat?" or "how long does it take to corral stabby people when they jump down onto the tracks & run through the tunnel to escape TPS, anyway?" or "how long can you stand on a platform aimlessly waving around a long stick with a kitchen knife duct-taped to one end...before someone can get hold of Transit Control?", or (my favorite convo to date):
506: Control, I have a man on the Westbound platform of Station X setting things on fire.
Transit Control: .............506....can you describe what items are being combusted-?
506:...............Um.....various items?
It would allow you to draw the lines on a map that has the streets marked and you'd be able to link to it so it's interactive and zoomable. Obviously, you don't have to just an idea. mymaps.google.com
It has never worked for me up until very recently when I enabled my VPN (Private Internet Access). I was able to connect to TELUS Wi-Fi calling and successfully make a call while I was underground and connected to TCONNECT. The call quality wasn't the best but it's better than nothing.
~~I bet they're blocking it on purpose because of their agreement with Freedom Mobile. They'd rather carriers pay them to allow customers to make phone calls underground.~~
EDIT: Removed speculation. Also.. if you're with Bell/Virgin Mobile or TELUS/Koodo, then you have to be very careful about which VPN server you're connecting to. Unlike Rogers/Fido, connecting to a server outside of Canada will result you in being charged higher rates (as if you were making an international call outside of Canada). You have to make sure that the VPN server is located in Canada. With the Private Internet Access VPN app, you can set the location to Toronto and it'll work properly without any extra charges. You don't have to worry about this if you're with Rogers or Fido.
