It depends. In Japan, I'm pretty sure Shironeko Project is up there. It's certainly got higher production values, although it's got fairly different gameplay.

Phantom of the Kill is a very similar in terms of gameplay and has been around for longer, also using a gacha type system that also apparently has a western release.

OK. Looking more closely at the feedback it is indeed true that a lot of the most recent poor ratings are from people who couldn't get it to run, which has pulled the overall rating down. If the developers decided to update this for the Go (it's so old that it might be using a pre-1.0 version of the Oculus Mobile SDK) we could probably expect it to run just fine.

I'm going to download it and see if it runs on my S9. Hopefully I'll be able to check out the gameplay for myself.

The 2D Play Store version has a decent rating as well.

Also, I been playing White Cat Project (白猫プロジェクト) on the side. If you can manage japanese enough to play it, the gameplay is top notch for 1 handed action mmo. I'm hoping it gets ~~cloned~~ brought over to US. There's a ton of 1 handed stuff in japan atm, seems to be a popular trend.

Honestly, Project White Cat and Dragalia Lost are the best examples I've found of good ARPG on mobile. You.. kind of have to either ignore the anime aesthetic, or not play the games and wait for a developer to actually make a game with a more.. mature aesthetic. Which could have been Diablo Immortal.

Do I think the game wouldn't be getting hate if they chose an input style that actually fits mobile? No, they'd still be getting hate. There was, afterall, more than the 1 mistake.
