I know a fair amount of GameMaker Studio and the GML scripting language that it uses.
I've actually published my first game that I made with it a while back.
I think GM:S is a great first dip into game dev. It's actually really powerful if you get to know it. It is mainly used for 2D games but it can do 3D (wouldn't reccommend it though).
Also, Hotline Miami and Gunpoint were made using it and they were pretty successful.
Here it is. It's a free android, arcade game. More things (features) are still coming and it's still on the "operating table". The previous versions were a lot worse.

The first game I've ever made is called "Astrobelt" and it's not that great honestly. It needs some work, and I'm planning a lot of new things for the next big update (Which might probably just be "Astrobelt 2").
I've had a lot of trouble generating ANY revenue (that's to be expected though), and I can't even break the 100 downloads mark.
It's been a weird experience making it since it's the first project that I've actually finished and published. I've learned a lot and now I'm working on something new and... bigger, so to speak.
Some feedback is also appreciated of course, and/or a Play Store rating.
> First step would be to let us know what your game is, provide us a link so we can see what it is and what you've done so far.

I didn't do it in my OP since I didn't want it to come off as advertisement.
> Beyond the nice screenshots, video, and icon, what else have you done marketing wise? Are you posting on various subreddits: gamedev , androidgaming , playmygame to build your user base?
I've posted it in all relevant subs. Gamedev (which has the bigger userbase) doesn't allow me to post it though. So that's sad. Is there anywhere in /r/gamedev that we are allowed to post our gameS?
> Put together a press release in email and website form?
Nope. The game is fairly simple and small so I thought that wouldn't be necessary.
> Sent press releases to reviewers (bloggers, youtubers, etc.)?
Some yes. No responses and can't find a blogger small enough to review such a game.
>Gone to any indie expos? Joined a local gamedev group (IGDA)
None in my area. At least not huge ones. I'm embarrassed to go to these because I'm still new and my game is not that big of a project.
>Paid advertisements?
Not yet but planning on it. What do you think the best platform for this would be? Adwords or Facebook? Or maybe something else?
> Social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.)?
I've made a FB page for the game. Nothing else. I don't really know how to do this Social Media game. I was never really into it even in my personal life, so even if I made the page, I don't know what to do with it you know?
Both your posts have actually helped a lot and thanks for taking the time to respond and help.
Hello gamedevs. I finally did an update on my game, and put in all the things I envisioned for it.
I had left it to die a while back because university became demanding for a while due to exams and whatnot.
But when I first made this game I wanted to make it a space shooter. Before, it was a simple game where you dodged asteroids. It was more of a learning experience for me and it helped me a lot. Now that I came back to it and learned even more awesome stuff.
Now I can finally let myself move on to more complicated stuff without feeling bad for "leaving a man behind".
It's my first published/completed game. I know it's not much (especially compared to most other projects I see in here) but it is how I envisioned my first published game to be, and it would mean a lot to me if you guys played it.

Any feedback is appreciated.
Here it is. It's very simple so please don't judge. What I'm planning to do will make it a proper arcade space shooter.
Agreed.
