There's an app with a backgammon AI so good it got brigaded with bad reviews claiming it cheats. They even made a mode where you can input your own hand-rolled dice to prove it's fair, but people still don't buy it.
I love how the reviewers are essentially admitting that they're not very good at backgammon (the AI's not that good).

Used it for years and never had concerns it was rigged. It has stats pages to review previous rolls as well as a manual entry mode so you can roll the dice yourself if you're super paranoid.
Since I last looked there's some kind of "Gaming Labs Certified" label in the settings too.
If you don't mind using a VPN or playing on flight mode that can avoid adverts on some games.
Tbh though I've almost entirely switched to premium games - they tend to be better quality anyway, and if you're paying up front it cuts out all the other monetisation.
In terms of backgammon I like this one, even though it's a little basic: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.aifactory.backgammonfree - as far as I can remember there weren't ads, although it's a very long time since I've played it.

Everyone claiming that this backgammon app must be cheating. It's not, but they must not be that good at backgammon.
Read a few Kindle books (average one a night) and am getting insanely good at Android Backgammon.
Backgammon. Some advertisements but mainly for other free games by the same developers.
