For some reason you can't find it via the play store by searching. Only via the website, but here is a direct link to it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.frogmind.badland2.cmcm&hl=en_US
I understand that and I understand the fact that some developers would benefit from piracy if the users hadn't bought the App anyway. I respect your opinion. However, I think that if you could afford a smartphone (It can be a Blu X1 HD or it can be a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge), you also have $0.something pocket cash to download most apps legally. Unless you're in a country where you have no play store: and in this case, it's open to discussion.
Carrier billing and Play Store gift cards made it ridiculously easy to purchase Apps. And it's even better with the newly introduced family accounts - set it up once by literaly tapping a few buttons on the Play Store App, and then buying an App takes a "Tap on the price" "Accept". Can it get any easier?
I would also like to highlight one of the main differences between Android and iOS: Android gets more free(mium) Apps because developers know pirating Android apps is idiot - proof, while iOS gets paid, well thought - out Apps with no ads or iAPs past purchase.
Example: Badland 2 is the sequel to the well - known indie game Badland. The original game has a great concept; it lets you play half of the game for free then decide if you want to buy the other half along the way. Can demos get any better? No. And that's the typical scenario a developer should follow. However, it was different for the sequel.
Here is the App Store page for Badland 2: https://itunes.apple.com/it/app/badland-2/id1007120869?mt=8
As you can see the App is €3,99 and free from in app purchases and ads; licensed by the original developer too.
Take a look at the Android version: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.frogmind.badland2.cmcm
Free App, FILLED with overly expensive iAPs (try it if you don't believe me) and intrusive ads. And guess who's licensing it? Cheetah Mobile.
It's pretty evident that developers see Android as a less profitable platform because people will pirate anyway. So they shift to ads and in app purchases to remove the paywall and still monetize while making the experience awful.
So what gives? Honest Android users pay for pirates too. The Android platform suffers from pirates and it's given a bad name. Piracy is ruining this platform.
