as you add apps to your phone, you increase the likelihood of a wallet stealing software. With that said, if you don't have bitcoin on your phone (or if you do and you do trust me) then give my android app a whirl. Its a bitcoin trivia game and its designed to put you up on skill about the various ins and outs of bitcoin technology.
Seriously, though, shouldn't need apps of any sort - maybe install authy and clef authentication for security sake. The other apps are just datamongers (like btc paranoid will kill your data) The other apps are just wallets like how you see - coinbase is a wallet so the app is just an adaptor to connect to their wallet. If you want to actually hold btc proper (not with coinbase) then consider something like mycelium instead. The difference is that wallet will allow you to backup your private keys and 'your bitcoin is your bitcoin' with coinbase its just an account. Once you actually withdraw the bitcoin - then its bitcoin and its yours, but until then its just btc credit on their system.
