Cardinal Quest 2 is really good.
It has story mode, with different classes and abilities that you can unlock. It also has a neverending mode, where the game just gets harder with every level.
I like it because how different the game is depending on which character you choose.
Cardinal Quest 2 is decent. Takes place in wooded areas, etc. It's not very strategically deep (in fact, no mobile roguelike I've found is very deep), but it's good for some tactical fun.
I feel I should give you fair warning that you're probably not going to find many answers here, specifically because of this bit:
> games, where you unlock lots of stuff and can, through more playthroughs, make your charakter stronger to keep going further into the Dungeon
That is called meta-progression, and is generally avoided in roguelikes as it goes against a common design aspect that is usually quite important to most players and devs: that players are only ever limited by their own skill, rather than having unlockable things behind virtual 'walls' that need more than one playthrough. There are a few traditional roguelikes that have some shallow meta-progression, such as the unlockable (and generally harder) races/classes in ToME (which doesn't have an Android version so far), but for the most part, meta-unlocks are relegated to rogue*lites* (though roguelites are often real-time and therefore probably not what you're after either... you still might have more luck over at /r/roguelites).
I don't know of many turn-based roguelikes for Android that have meta-progression since I, like most others here, dislike the concept of 'unlockables', but I think Cardinal Quest 2 has some of that...
I keep coming back to this game, I like "actiony" type of gameplay for rouguelikes too like Wayward Souls but I don't know why I just keep coming back to this game, it just really get what rougelike is.
It has eveything you're specifically asking for "multiple characters with different playstyles, difficult but fair randomised maps enemies and weapon" although its kind of a turn-based but not really a full blown turned based game I guess you just have to try it and find out if it's for you.
But what you may be looking for is Buriedbornes
Honestly, I don't think Cardinal Quest 2 is even worth buying on the PC. I enjoyed it on mobile though. Here's an android version, for example.
Yeah, that's the only one I did try. It was a long time ago though, and it was after playing Cardinal Quest - suppose you could say I was looking for more of the same. Maybe I'll give it another shot.
How are the graphics different though? Both look the same to me, though I'm not an artist. If you haven't yet, check it out.

I, too, have been sucked in PD shattered, it's very addictive.
The only other similar game that have had the same effect is Cardinal Quest 2.
It's a much more streamlined roguelite, as in there is a bit less depth to it, but the gameplay loop and the atmosphere are both incredible. I've spent hours on it on kongregate.
Have you tried Cardinal Quest 2 ? I really loved that game. It doesn't get updates anymore, tho...

I love that you can simply lock your phone or close the game and it will pick up where you left off :) Don't hesitate to ask questions, if you have some!
Try Cardinal Quest 2 on Android. Kinda has a diablo 2 feel to it and it is much closer to a rogulike than EC2.
Edit Cardinal Quest 2
You could try Cardinal Quest 2 or Caves - Roguelike I play both and they're quite fun, Cardinal Quest in particular.
Here is a link. I had forgotten about CQ2. It's a fairly good game; a bit heavy on RNG, and some might be turned off by the need to 'unlock' classes instead of having everything available from the start, but over-all I'd say it's probably better than Pixel Dungeon... :)
Cardinal Quest 2, it's a great rogue like [proper rogue-like, not rogue-lite], lots of constantly increasing content, fairly challenging, and a lot of replayability with the endless Tower update.
Cardinal Quest 2! It's a rogue-like game with several characters that vastly change up the gameplay. Also, it was just recently updated with even more features and characters! Apple Store and Google Play
A few mobile games that I really like are
Cardinal Quest 2 - an engaging little rougelike rpg where everything can be acheived if you work for it
another one is Infinitode 2 - a free-to-play minimalistic tower defense game which feels way too good and offers too much for a game that's free. You can even play it on steam!
Battle of Polytopia is a rather popular and high rated game on the play store - it's a simple little civilization inspired game which is rather quick and fun to play. However, you have to pay to unlock a majority of the races.
Yet, you decided not to incl. a link.
Powder: Smallish buttons, but wonderful roguelike. It's hard, but the mechanics are great and you can actually get very far without reading guides. I'm forever spoiled, because I can't get into deep, frustrating roguelikes like Nethack because of Powder.
BrogueX: Interface is unfortunately a bit quirky. But it works if you're desperate.
Pixel Dungeon: Also a vote for Pixel Dungeon. Good interface. There are lots of variants. Heard good stuff about Shattered Pixel Dungeon.
Cardinal Quest 2: 'Simple' roguelike, but good interface made for android
Quest of Dungeons: Also 'Simple' roguelike, but good interface made for android
Cardinal Quest 2 is an oldie but a goodie:

Not 100% sure, but maybe it's Cardinal Quest 2?
I can't say what are the best, all are pretty good in their own. Here you have some to choose:
Roguelike ports:
Cardinal Quest 2 is a nice little roguelike that I'm fond of. It works offline, has no ads, and has fairly short runs so it's nice to play on a bus ride or a short break.
Sudoku- The Clean One is a basic sudoku game with a really nice, clean interface. It's one of the nicer mobile puzzle games I've found. It's got occasional ads, but you can play offline, or pay $2 to get rid of them.
If you want a gay-themed game that is not a horrible gacha-RPG, Yearning: A Gay Story is a nice, free visual novel. And it's free as in actually free, there's no ads or stamina or etc. It's got a paid sequel, Zen: A Gay Story .

Cardinal Quest 2 Great turn-based rougelike. No ads IIRC.
What do you think of Roguelikes? Cardinal Quest 2 is a free one, it's a simple roguelike with what you're looking for: some sort of RPG like progression (but only for that session, as how roguelikes go), you can take your time to do your next action, as it's turn based.
If you haven't played Roguelikes yet, here are a couple of Roguelites. They leave out RPG elements like stats, but the tactical nature of roguelikes show in the following games:
