San Jaun is pretty fun IMO. You can check out the App on Android OS for free before committing to a physical copy. ($20-$25 USD)
Google Play link here.
Edit: The game is called Condado - it is not an official Rio Grande app.
Yeah, play a couple of games of "Condado" to figure out San Juan, and then go on over to playing RftG against the Keldon AI.
The good thing about the Keldon AI is that you can undo and redo whenever you think "Wait, how did that happen".
I prefer Condado. It is very bare bones graphic wise. However, the expansions are included and it just plays faster. It is also free.
Condado
This is one unofficial implementation of San Juan. It's the 1st edition cards, but with both modules from the Alea Treasure Chest expansion... The New Buildings, and The Events. Play vs. AI opponents. No card art, but that does keep the footprint down, and make your tableau more compact

Not a video, but I listened to this podcast, and read the teaching guide PDF before I played against the Keldon AI until it started making sense. Anything I wasn't clear on from there I found in the manual.
Playing San Juan is also surprisingly good for figuring out the phases and basic strategy. The official app was on sale over easter, but Condado is free for android.
The knock-off version of San Jaun for android does have all the expansions. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kevinquan.condado&hl=en
My friend owns the actual game and we have a blast playing it, it's one of our gotos. I would love to see an Android version of Puerto Rico, too. There's only an iOS version right now. All Android has is Condado. :(
